According to Variety, 4.6M viewers watched last night. 2nd highest rated debut since The Walking Dead. Great job AMC!
Edit: He just corrected himself. 4.6 includes the re-air. It was 2.7 from 9-11. Still solid though and 2nd highest behind Walking Dead.

4.6 for the re-air. People up that late. That just seems strange. It seems like those numbers would be 4.6 for the first run and 2.7 for the re-air. I guess. good numbers anyway.

4.6M (total for the night) includes the 11:00pm to 1:00am re-air. Sorry for the confusing way I wrote that. But yeah that's surprising to still see almost 2M watch that late.

No I am not confused by what you wrote. That was fine. I just don't understand on a late Sunday night how it could be higher than from 9-11. That many people still watch crappy Desperate Housewives and other nonsense still I guess on Sunday night.

Surprised (in a good way) about the numbers - I wasn't expecting it to do that well. Hope it doesn't drop too much in subsequent weeks.
This is a "one case per season" type of show, right? So, we'll still get a conclusion on this case on the chance it doesn't get renewed?

damn, next re airing is thurs at 9. I would watch on demand, but AMC only broadcasts in 2.0 sound on demand (reg HD station is full 5.1)

Really riveting 2 hours. I was glued to the TV. I liked how both episodes were shot and the score.
I thought Michelle Forbes and Brent Sexton were excellent as the parents. The scene where he happened to drive by the crime scene and eventually found out Rosie was there was really heartbreaking, especially Forbes acting on the other end of the phone.

I also was taken by that scene, really powerful. Great acting by both of them.
I'll watch again with my wife when she comes back from her trip.
And yeah, I really hope they resolve this series at the end of the season. Is this a miniseries? a 13 episodes series? Or how does it works?
I don't want them to extend the final resolution, who and why, for more than one season.

I have no doubt the killer is
I had the killer on Harper's Island pegged from the first episode, so I'm pretty good at following the clues planted both by the writing and by the use of the actors. I would be shocked if I was wrong, or else its someone they haven't shown yet, which would suck. Obviously the candidate has some skeletons, but it's a red herring. Too obvious.

I think that was intentional since likely this show will explore the themes of underage sex abuse by older men.

But I was asking if the specific "Who killed Rosie Larsen?" case would be solved and wrapped up at the end of this season, and the next season (if there is one) would be new case (for example, how each season of Dexter or Damages is generally a self-contained case).

TNT, TBS, AMC and maybe a couple of other channels do this.
EDIT - the first sentence makes no sense whatsoever, but hopefully the times get the point across... the late viewings on AMC are primetime on the HD channel on the West Coast.

at Sarah taking the inflatable doll home.
They were great; I also liked the female lead. This show gave off a strong Insomnia vibe, with a little Millennium thrown in (probably because of the setting). Since I love both of those, I have high hopes for this.

I really liked it. I didn't know anything about the series going in, only that it was AMC and they have a very good track record so far. This is another win for me. Very Twin Peaks minus the weirdness and bad acting. The only negatives are the partner from 8 Mile and Sarah's constant gum chewing. I'm sure that will be explained (quit smoking?), but no explanation will make it any less annoying to watch.
Why are you guys putting spoiler tags around who you think is the killer? Unless you've already seen this series, it's not a spoiler.

I agree, it doesn't make much sense, but it could be a red herring. The biggest thing for me is the candidate speaking at the school, it's a heck of a coincidence and would explain how they knew and why they used the candidates car. None of the other people, coworkers of parents, seem to have a connection to the guy. So for me, it's either for to be in the campaign office or the school. I just don't see, right now, with limited info, how it adds up any other way.

I hope all the super depressing stuff is over, that was a lot to take in 2 hours.
Since we're all guessing who the killer is, i'll throw in my random guess

Hmmmm...I watched in HD on Verizon Fios. I guess I'm the only one who thought the video (espcially on day 1) was a noisy mess? SD would have even beat it !
