^Those stupid fucks. So I guess I'm downloading a show while I'm paying $22/month for the channel that lets me watch it.

*edit* Looks like Now is indicating that it is on, tonight, in Canada:

DEADWOOD (Daniel Minahan). 110 minutes. Premiering on HBO Canada and streaming on Crave+ Friday (May 31) at 8 pm. Rating: NNNNN

Strange this is not on a Sunday and they air it on a Friday?

Unreal. Worth the 13 year wait. Everyone got a moment.

And it was awesome that...

Spoiler:
Garret Dillahunt came back for Round 3 :-)

Wow that was awesome. Never really thought I would see Deadwood again but it was just an exceptional ending. I suspect HBO can back up the Emmy pickup for this.

That may now be my favorite closing scene/line for a series.

Awww... I wanted to be the one to post that. As soon as I heard him, I skipped back to be sure. One show, three roles! Awesome.

Spoilers ahead, but I'm not spoiler tagging them, so if you haven't watched it... WTF are you reading this thread for, cocksuckers!

They handled Hearst perfectly. We got 'some' satisfaction which didn't really contradict history. Although, Al Swearengen actually died 13 years after Hearst.

Trixie looked like she barely aged after 13 years. Alma did, but is still quite attractive.

I loved that Jane had her moment, and that Dan and Johnny weren't killed off.

It was also nice that E.B. had a bit of redemption, too.

Yeah, definitely loved this! I still can't believe it happened. So many years of rumours upon rumours...

Re: Deadwood: The Movie (HBO) -- premieres 5/31/19

That was fantastic!
As great as the series was, this movie was just so much more tight and concise, almost like Milch needs some boundaries to keep him reigned in, making him an even better storyteller.

I would love to buy the script of this as book!

I thought I saw Dillahunt in there, but it was so quick, I wasn't sure.

I also caught a bit of a Raylan Givens moment when Bullock grabbed Hearst by the ear.

And did Swearengen actually die at the end there? Seems like they left it up to the viewer.

Now, for the OCD part of me... how am I gonna fit the eventual blu-ray into the series box-set?

The ear pulling was a callback to when he did it in the series.

Was there any mention of Cy? I didn’t catch anything.

A beautiful send off that leaves you wishing for more.

Even though we were given a chance to see all of the characters have an ending that left you able to fill in the blanks of where their lives would go on from there, I still watched the credits hoping that there was somehow more to come.

And shout out to the production team for recreating Deadwood flawlessly! I know the original set was torn down years ago but somehow they managed to make it look like it had been there all along.

Thank you David Milch for letting us spend some time in your world!

One of the interesting things to me is that I noticed how much older everyone was when we first saw them, but after a while they seemed to look younger and younger to me as if the age had melted away and you could just see their core.

Such an amazing show. What would have had if there had been additional seasons after 3? I suspect quality would have gone down at some point but probably not for a couple more years at least. Now lost forever. It's like how I wonder had Bonham not have died what awesome music did his death steal from the world, or what if Chopin or Mozart had lived for 20 more years.

I think Deadwood is maybe the pinnacle of TV as an art form. We were blessed to get two more hours but we lost so much when HBO cancelled it.

They (well, their ages) stood out to me mainly because I just re-watched the entire series. If I hadn't, I don't think it would've been as noticeable.

From the David Milch commentary on the final episode of S3, one thing that was going to happen was that Seth was going to barricade himself in the Sheriff's office because he felt he lost the election unfairly. A few other things were mentioned, but I don't recall them at the moment.

This was fucking brilliant. Obviously my avatar for the past however many years indicates that this is a dear show to me.

After all these years of “will they or won’t they,” interviews with Milch and the cast, to see it as a real thing was pretty insane. I’m still somewhat getting over the fact that I’ve seen it and it’s over.

Aside from the fact that over ten years have passed, it’s as though we haven’t missed a beat.

You don’t “need” to watch the series but not doing so would be like seeing Endgame without having watched or even read about a single Marvel movie, or the last GoT with same scenario. At the very least watch season 3 as the movie directly follows up those events.
