The show is simply more flash than substance, basically living off whatever charisma the actors can generate from the tepid storylines ripped from the headlines. It has all the hallmarks of a modern action film, where the plot is secondary to the big action set pieces and CGI.

The first season was very good. So far the second season is fairly weak in storyline. Someone posted previously it is a lot of flash...action and I agree. The original V mini-series from the 80's are much better in story. There does not seem to be any direction for this season. Hopefully, it gets better over the next few episodes.

Well let's not get carried away. It was better, but "very good" is an overstatement.

Ok...it was good. Yes..I probably got carried away but in comparison to this season it was very good. I do not feel the season form for this story bodes well. For me...that is why the original is better. You had two major mini-series which told the story for the most part. They followed with a season long show which did not make it past the one season for obvious reasons.

I just watched the original miniseries this weekend, and seeing that really exposes the flaws in the remake. It was written so much better than the current show. Better characters and more believable situations (the dogfight scene notwithstanding). It made you think, and addressed social issues that the networks would never touch in a "serious" dramatic show. It's a shame that this kind of sci-fi on TV has always been the exception rather than the rule.
