I do feel they left MANY things unanswered, BUT they might leave these things to continue in season 6, damn waiting almost a year

Well I was happy with the finale. Even though I called how things would end a couple of weeks ago, its still the most satisfying ending that I can think of. Lumen's revenge was able to rid her of her Dark Passenger and she returns home. Deb rethinking her code of "acceptable" murder leaves open the possibility of her one day accepting Dexter. And Dexter patches things up with his family, and is free to kill for at least another season. I disagree that Dexter at the end of this season is exactly the same as he was at the start. The events of this season had Dexter experiencing more honest emotion than he's ever felt before. And not just with Lumen. Dexter's family are no longer just props he keeps to make himself blend into society. As his father commented on, he's doing things that have no motive except that he cares.
Though, like some of you guys, I didn't quite buy how the Quinn story was wrapped up. Sure, it feeds into the theme I was talking about - Dexter doing something solely because it made Deb happy. But Quinn has to have a pretty good idea that Dexter killed Liddy, and he seemed awfully calm about that.
The storyline about the evil nanny some of you were clamoring for ... that'll have to wait until next season

Good season, but didn't like the nice and tidy wrap-up to it... that and the various predictable things.
From past episodes I knew Deb was going to let the vigilante go. She came down the stairs and as soon as I saw the plastic between Dex/Lumen and Deb - I knew she was going to let them go and not find out who they were.
Dex/Lumen were given an hour to clean up the evidence from crime scene - no problem. What did they do about the stolen/crashed car? They get it towed away so quickly? Didn't Deb notice it when she arrived on the scene? It's a very suspicious piece of evidence. How did Dex crash the car anyways? He was distracted by looking at Harry - but Harry's in his mind. Oh, I'll let that last one slide.
Also saw Dexter clearing Quinn with the bloodwork coming a mile away. Should Quinn's girlfriend's brother be allowed to do the bloodwork? Especially since Quinn immediately asked for a lawyer, the equipment is signed out under his name, Liddy's cell records shows he called Quinn, and his fingerprints are all over the van.
We found out that Deb was still living with Quinn. Hey, doesn't Quinn still not have the photos that Liddy took in the drawer? Will Deb find them?
What was the point of the Fuentes brothers storyline? It made LaGuerta a bad buy for a few episodes... that's it. And where's the cute spanish cop? I wanna see more of her.
It was obvious Lumen wouldn't stick around (regardless of her contract). Dexter has to be alone in this - it doesn't work any other way. Did anyone really expect Lumen to follow Dexter's path? I'm glad they didn't kill her off - she's going home to heal... the way it should be. And she's the only one alive who knows about Dexter... pretty cool.
Do we know if next season is the last season?

Here are the predictions I made on 11/11 as to how the rest of the season would go:
Not 100%, but not bad.
Predictions (I avoid spoilers, so these aren't based on anything but my own brain):
* Nanny is as she appears, somebody for Dexter to interact with in his "family life". She will not "go bad" (although it is possible that Dexter's actions put her and/or Harrison in danger).
* Lumen will live, but we will get a hint that she is not satiated and may become a serial killer herself.
* Quinn will eventually order Buckaroo Banzai to back down (out of love for Debbie or some shit), but Banzai will continue to do a little work on his own and get killed by Dexter (accidentally or otherwise). This will reignite Quinn's suspicions of Dexter.

Decent episode if a bit anti climactic. I agree with the other comments, lots of loose ends left especially with all the Quinn stuff. Overall it was a solid season even if the finale didn't hold too many surprises.

My 11/23 prediction: "Quinn and Robocop will probably both meet their end and I think Lumen will survive." Two out of three ain't bad

Re: Dexter -- Season Finale -- "The Big One" -- 12/12/10
I thought this was the weakest season of the show so far. Sloppy writing... Dexter breaks his code numerous times with barely even a mention of it from his conscience or Harry (like killing that guy in the bathroom just because he was rude), numerous subplots that pretty much went nowhere (Fuentes? LaGuerta vs. Deb? Hello?), and tons of sloppy loose ends like the crashed car, Kyle Butler, and Quinn's strange non-reaction or acceptance or whatever it was to Dexter's involvement in Liddy's death.
Also, it was so obvious weeks ago Debra was going to let the vigilante killers go, what with all that talk about it being "true love" that 2 people would do that kind of thing. So if she was going to let them go anyway, way NOT let her find out the killer is her brother? Imagine what an awesome ending/turn of events that would be. The sheet of plastic thing was such a cop out. I mean she doesn't have to know he's a serial killer or anything, but that would have been a lot more interesting than Lumen basically saying "I don't have nightmares anymore. Thanks for helping me murder five people, but it's time for me to be going."
Lousy season, lousy ending. It's honestly the first time Dexter has bored me.

Yes, this is the moment when I really started liking Quinn's character.
Which is good, because it seems obvious he will be a major player in the next season. At least he should be. I think it could be a great new dynamic to the show. Quinn has to suspect all kinds of stuff now. He knows Dexter killed Liddy. They'll be seeing a lot more of each other, and Dex won't be able to dispatch of him - although I'm guessing that was half the reason he cleared the blood. Good to keep Quinn out of the cops hands where he might start pointing fingers.
Otherwise though, I though Quinn's decision to get a lawyer was a good one. Nothing is gained by telling the truth, and he shouldn't lie. But if he waits, he'll see how the blood work goes. And if it clears, he is at once free from a lot of suspicion, and he knows he was at least partially right about Dexter.

Too bad that Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are getting divorced. Hopefully it won't have a negative impact on the show in the next season(s).

It must really suck for James Remar to do the same thing over and over. The only thing that wasn't consistent whining was the episode where he said "I'm proud of you."
Every time Dexter says "probably" "I guess", "maybe" or anything along those lines, as if on cue Harry robotically says something like:
"You can't assume anything Dexter..."
"Probably isn't good enough."
"You're going to risk everything on a maybe?"
Let's spice it up a bit next season, come on.

Poor MCH... left by both Lumen and Jennifer

Nice of them to wait until the season finale to annouce this.
(Is he gay?)
I ddint like Lumen suddenly changing her heart. That was REALLY lame.
I was OK with Quinn leaving Dexter alone. Robocop never told Quinn that the bust was about Dexter; and maybe Deb told him about Lumen which would alleviate his suspicions as he would see Dexter being open with the people close to him and not be like as Quinn was assuming "stashing a girl away".
But I cant see how Quinn & Robocop connection is all closed. There would be questions on why Robocop forged Quinn's sig.

Its good that she alsso thought that Lumen rejecting Dexter after all that happened between them was lame.

Very underwhelming finale. Not really disappointing, but by the numbers.

Kudos for them not killing her off like everyone else that finds out about Dexter, but Lumen being "heal" or whatever as soon as she got her revenge and leaving Dexter was clunky as hell.
I also had to laugh when the orange vendor said their wasn't much down the road Jordan was on other than the camp...really, a two lane road with moderate traffic all leading nowhere but a derelict camp?

Finale was alright
At Lumen leaving. I cared more about the Dexter/Lumen relationship in this Season more than I did the entire Dexter/Rita relationship in the seasons before.
I just want LaGuerta to leave already!

pretty disappointed by the finale and the season in general...even though it did pick up in the second half of the season.
The secondary characters are wearing pretty thin on me -- I really hope in the off time that the writers figure out the end game. If they do that, I think this show could very well come out on top and go out w/ a bang

The article said that they were seperated for a while; so they must have been seperated while Dexter was being shot...must have been uncomfortable...

LOL... when I read it on amazon this morning, that was the first thing I texted to my wife about it...
I enjoyed this season, but have loved them all in some way or another... when the agreed upon "worst" season (3) is better than 99% of the other crap on television, you know you have a great show
