I've liked every ep of the show so far.. It's just too bad that this season is so short... As for the source material of the comics, I don't really mind the show heading off in different directions the base is still pretty solid.. Zombies, group of people.. Graaaaahhhh!!.. Yeah that will work.. lol
randomness, might of already been posted and I missed it but from Gutters comic page.. "Still, upon hearing that Frank Darabont was involved heavily, I couldn't help but picture a Walking Dead/Shawshank Redemption piece, which resulted in today's page." http://www.the-gutters.com/comic/60-jason-howard |
Re: The Walking Dead -- "Vatos" -- 11/21/10
I don't mind them departing from the comic, but I have some concerns about where they are going.
In the comics, for the first 30 or so issues there were few if any major living human enemies. There were some unsavory individuals and disagreements, but I'm talking about sociopaths and Mad Max raider type enemies. Their introduction to the comic, and from what I've read they only became more frequent as it progressed, is what turned me off from it. My concern is that the series is rushing to get where the comic was forced to go eventually because, IMO, the creative tank was hitting E on the original, more grounded, premise. |

I'm finding the series extremely entertaining. I feel sorry for those who, for whatever reason, don't.
For me, the show feel a lot like The Stand should have if it was handled by someone more competent and on a network that allows more language & gore. Makes me want a new network to tackle it properly. The only issue I've had thus far is the transition from the pilot directed by Darabont to the episodes. The premier felt like a movie and the directing efforts of the ensuing episodes have a tv feel to them. Still solid, but clearly in a different league than Darabont. I guess that's unavoidable, but still worth noting. Speaking of the Pilot, I wonder if the plot with the dad & son will get resolved. I'm dying to know if he shot his wife and made a run for it. |

What I don't get is why this show gets all the beating when every single show airing right now has the same kind of "stupid" writing ocasionally. Some even worse than this. And even 'Terriers' and 'Breaking Bad' has had a couple of eye rolling moments. |

How the hell is Shawn of the Dead better? The characters in that movie act like complete imbeciles, or British, if you prefer.

Walking Dead may jump it at the end of this season, it is hard to tell because we'd need to see how this season ends in order to rate it as a whole. |

That's the way it goes when something is very hyped up.
For reference though I'm indifferent to zombie stuff. I'm not anti-zombie, just don't get all the love. Looking at Navinabob's list of top 10 movies better than the Walking Dead, I've seen Zombieland.

It is a comedy. Had they not acted like imbeciles it would have seriously cut down on the haha parts. When the movie jumps to a serious note it sorta punches you in the gut because you were not ready for it...

These guys tear this episode apart (but not without some positive comments as well). So a heads-up, to those who might cry from reading dissenting opinions. Although they do give way more reasons as to what was wrong with the episode than those that loved it give for what was so great about it. Reasons matter. And I don't understand when people gloss over this stuff.
I think this quote nails it: I just think that so many hardcore horror fans are giving a lot of the elements of the show a pass because it exists. If this was a theatrical flick it'd have been eviscerated. Somehow, because it's on AMC and that it's a zombie show with gore it's all good. It's not. It's a huge opportunity being squandered... |

You think this is bad, you should check out the Zombie Squad forums. http://zombiehunters.org/forum/index...c7c7758bf7d214
Over 40 pages of people mostly bitching about the tank, and Glocks not having a safety. -rolleyes- But I'm not gonna 'cry' about it. If people don't like it, fuck'em. Doesn't mean I have to stop enjoying it. |

I wonder if there actually are Koreans in Atlanta. I'd thought they'd get strung up there.
