Off to a slow start in the ratings.

FX’s ‘Terriers’ premiere ratings bite
by James Hibberd
The series premiere of FX's cop-dramedy-thingy "Terriers" got off to a ruff! start.
Looks like 1.6 million viewers tuned in for the show's first episode, with 659,000 adults 18-49.
By comparison: FX's last drama series debut, "Justified," scored a record 4.2 million viewers last year, then slumped a bit. Two years ago, "Sons of Anarchy" launched to 2.5 million, then grew.

Considering they weren't even showing what the show was about until like 2 weeks ago those numbers aren't very surprising. Hopefully it'll pick up some word of mouth or replays.

yeah, whoever did marketing for them, really dropped the ball. i expect word of mouth to give it a little boost, though.

I kind of liked it. It was very offbeat, which makes it a little more unique than your typical Cop/PI drama. I think this is the kind of show that needs a few episodes to really get going.
I liked the chemistry with Hank and Britt and I think they work well as partners. Donal Logue is definitely not the 1st guy I would think of to cast as the lead of a TV show, so I give Griffin, Ryan and FX some credit for thinking outside the box and going with someone that fits the part than casting a well known star.
One thing I loved was the backdrop of San Diego as the show's setting. I don't think the show actually takes place in San Diego, but I know it's shot there and I think the cinematographer did a good job shooting the show and making it have a gritty, yet bright look to it.
I like the arc they set up with Lindus as the villain and look forward to seeing how it plays out.

Honestly, I can't see this show gaining alot of viewers and being a big hit for FX. I think it's going to hover around 1.5 to maybe 2M viewers a week and have more of a cult following....probably more to those who are fans of Shawn Ryan.

I hope it lasts, very entertaining so far.

I thought it was pretty boring. It wasn't bad, but there were a bunch of other things I was thinking I'd rather be doing than finding out what happens in the show.

Casting was not too bad, but the world does not need another lightly-serialized PI show. The show appears to be something that USA might have passed on for production. I am out after one episode. It will be very hard for a show like this to grow out of those low initial ratings. The executive who allowed the show to be called Terriers should be fired, that was likely half the reason for the ratings.

Isn't Paula Marshall the true TV show kiss of death? Christopher Gorham had some cred until this summer's breakout hit Covert Affairs.
Also, I am struck by a passing similarity in the promo photo above between Logue and Jeff Bridges as The Dude. It amuses me.
This gets a season pass from me. No other new show does (though some shows will probably get a season pass for convenience sake, this one is one I will watch for the whole season no matter what). I'm super psyched for it.

But, I do agree with you, even though I did like the Pilot, and will watch, I can't see this gaining viewers as the weeks progress.

I wonder why they went that way, even giving them their own police department.
