I enjoyed both episodes. I will be watching the rest of this series, and hope it lasts longer than Lucky Louie.

A show with some potential marred by some really subpar acting. Lucky Louie had a similar problem. He loves having his comedian buddies in the shows, and they can't act for shit.
Also, I find Nick DiPaulo really obnoxious.
I really laughed at the having sex with animals bit though, and the Facebook stuff was dead on.
The 2 episodes were very uneven. Some stuff I laughed really hard at, and some stuff just dragged. The bus scene was a good concept that just wasn't executed properly.
I'll keep checking it out because I like the guy though.

I thought this was great. The "Seinfeld/Curb" rip off comments are kind of unfounded. Weirdly I think the show its most like is the original Bill Cosby Show (right down to the soundtrack). This show is a lot more like Louis short films he made in the early 90s (he sells a DVD of them on his site).

I liked it but didn't love it - something about the format felt kind of off to me. It probably doesn't help that I know his standup so well that I've heard all these bits before... parts of it felt awkward and not as funny as I had hoped. Still, some big laughs here and there and I'll continue to watch.

I was also baffled with the helicopter scene in episode 1, and then saw a clip on The Soup of the bachelor / bachelorette. and the bachelorette was dumping someone and then took off in a helicopter, so I then was thinking it was a parody of that show.
Then I watched a Jake Johanson stand up show from earlier this year, and he did one of the exact same jokes as Louie did. The one where if you're married the best case scenario is having the person you love die on you.
It was weird made me think maybe Louis ripped that joke off. And I'm a huge Louis C.K. fan. Some him live and I have never laughed so hard in my life.

I noticed in the opening credits that Pamela Adlon, who plays Marcy Runkel on Californication, is a Producer on this show.
I have to wonder if Louis C.K. wrote and directed all 13 episodes. IMO, that's cool that FX is letting him write all his own material, plus it's probably so much cheaper since he doesn't have to hire a writing staff.

My DVR didn't record - does anyone know when this will re-air? I tried to search on my DVR and the only thing it picked up was next weeks episode?
Is this on Hulu?

Liked all of the stand up stuff, but most of the rest was pretty dull, with the poker game scene a big exception.

Really enjoying it so far. I've seen Louis CK live twice, and he's told these bits before. The dramatizations only add to describing the alternate Louis-CK-Reality he lives in. Can't wait to see more.

Just an FYI for those who missed this, the Pilot and the 2nd episode re-air Sunday night starting at 11:30pm.

I thought the first episode was hilarious (how the hell did they film that helicopter scene?). The second episode was a little uneven, but good overall.
This show would make a good double-bill with It's Always Sunny.

I watched the 1st episode and found it lacking any kind of funny. I watched his other show on HBO and found it funnier (if that is possible to believe). I'm going to watch the 2nd episode, but if it is bad as the 1st one, I'm out.

I honestly don't understand how someone could watch this and not think it's funny or not like it.
Did you just not get it or did you get there were jokes and just didn't think they were funny jokes?
Also this show is overtly less of a comedy than Lucky Louie (which was a show I also liked) and some of the episodes are just interesting, sad, entertaining and not joke a minute sitcom style.

honestly, it wasn't funny, because it wasn't funny. i mean, the date thing was awkward enough, but her jumping in a helicopter? huh? the bus driver walking out? not funny. the only funny part of the 1st episode was when he was telling the kids to move around on the bus because he wanted the "darker" ones near the window.
the 2nd episode was slightly funnier, but still not laugh out loud. there are far better comedies on tv than this. for me, the stand up vignettes, with the "show" put around it makes it less interesting to me. if i wanted to watch louie ck do stand up, i'd go see him.

Re: Louie -- New Series with Louis CK -- "Pilot; Poker/Divorce" -- 06/29/10
watched both episodes yesterday.
I'm a big fan or Louie - and the stand up parts of the show are funny..
However - the "real life" skits kind of fall short here is why IMHO:
1) He uses his comedian friends which are not actors. When you are going to do a skit or try to show a visual to the audience it helps to use actors - who have the ability to convey the situation and deliver believable dialog.
For example Nick Dipallo's dialogue in the poker scene was horrible - the guy sounded like he was reading off of cue cards
2) Random - inside jokes like the helicopter just took away from the whole date build up. Are you telling me a story, is this a visual of a joke from your stand up, or is this a bad SNL skit? Still don't get it.
This is his 2nd. show and he is a great / funny guy - but the execution is not there (at least in the first 2 episodes). However, I will continue to watch just for the clips of his stand up.

Over all, I thought both episodes were very good -- but the poker game was amazing.

The helicopter was a repeat of a Youtube video he did after Lucky Louie where he steals a kids ice cream then jumps on a helicopter and flees over the Manhattan skyline

Loved the poker game seen a fistfight in one last night ( kind of a downer ) .
Think if Louie stuck with the adlib comedy he would be much better off drama sucks I wanna laugh
Jim Norton was awesome on Lucky Louie ...Let the drama die and let the funny rip it will be so much better off
