In August 2010 it was announced that Badler would be joining the series as a character named Diana, the same character from the original V but as the long lost mother of Visitor leader Anna.

I really don't see how it can be the same character. That would make zero sense.

Agreed. Same name but can't be the same character. An invasion of alien lizards that eat humans can't be swept under the rug. Governments would use it to have unlimited taxation and spending for an anti-lizard force "just in case" the lizards came back. It would forever be written in our DNA, our laws, etc. It might even cause world peace so we could fight lizards together, in joint military action.

Nothing could unify humanity like a bunch of lizard aliens that eat us.

This has to be a "universe" where the prior lizard invasion never happened.

Think of it as an alternate timeline, where Diana didn't lead the lizards in their invasion, but instead her daughter did, many years later.

It's also pretty easy to say they aren't the "same" earth, being science fiction and all.

Of course, I'm betting they'll just name her Diana and never go into any other relevant details about her. Fans of both shows will have these unanswered questions, everybody else won't care.

According to Scott Rosenbaum's (V's showrunner) Twitter feed, they wrapped production on all 10 episodes December 11th.

Not bad I guess if one considers the original mini-series were a total of six hours each when aired on television. Looking forward to the ten episodes. I would hope they have a conclusion to the story should it not be renewed for a third season.

Re: "V" renewed for 2nd season

I'm looking forward to the return of V next week. I'm currently re-watching the first season this week, as there is not a lot on tv this week.

Will be interesting to see how season 2 goes, and to see if there'll be more.

Re: "V" renewed for 2nd season

I don't see how the concept can be recreated and work in a 2 hour (or less) feature film ... the mastery of the original mini-series was the evolution of the characters. This has also been one of the major short-comings of the new V -- there has been no incubation period, no chance for any character development (we have been given cookie-cutter stereo-types and expected to jump right into the situation).

That said ... I am really hoping that season 2 raises the bar immensely. With only 10 episodes, I'm not expecting much (beyond cancellation).

Re: "V" renewed for 2nd season

I thought the original mini-series kind of sucked.

But, I'm really enjoying this new version. Seems even better watching the first season the second time through.

Blasphemer.....be gone!!!!

I can see where some may not like the original from the 80's due to the dated special effects and maybe even because of the acting. I loved it then and still love it today. I even have the first season that aired in the 80's...not great but still enjoyable to me.

If Diana doesn't at least get to gulp down a guinea pig, I will be very disappointed.

The original mini got ten times the ratings the new series gets.

IMO, that's not a fair comparison. In 1983 there were less channels and no DVR's. More people were watching stuff live back then, so of course the ratings were higher.
