Re: Lost -- "Happily Ever After" -- 04.06.10
A lot of these theories sound great and make various levels of sense, but the big question is how the hell are the writers/producers/etc... going to make any of these explanations palatable to a general audience? There has to be a reasonably simple answer that can be understood at a baseline level, and then probably a second (third, fourth, ...ninety-sixth) level that can be dissected by the hardcores.
I'm not saying I have any idea what the simple answer could be, but I'd be shocked if the network (or anybody really) would allow an answer that requires complex math and understanding.

To me, that is palatable, but I agree that many of these "deep theories"--such as the last few listed here--are quite good, but will need to be broken down for casual viewers like a large part of the audience are (ie those of us who have seen every episode, but only once, during the main broadcast).
BTW, that theory of Desmond A and B really makes a lot of sense and breaks it down nicely, invisiblegt.

I finally placed that woman working for Widmore. She was on L.A. Law where she played a hot secretary who was going to law school part-time: Sheila Kelly I think is her name. God that had been aggravating me.

With death, however, the consciousness becomes permanently stuck in the body of the ALT counterpart. I feel this only applies to people who have died on the island (which is why Locke B does not have the same bleeding that other are experiencing, as Locke A died off island).

^ I don't know about Sayid, but it's pretty obvious that the people who died on the island timeline are "more aware" than the others in the Alt
the fact that Charlie/Daniel were the ones that assisted Desmond in becoming aware of the different realities shows that
they can confirm this, if Charlotte or maybe a dead islander from the plane starts acting like Charlie/Daniel on there own before Desmond goes to em one by one
like i said earlier Desmond will probably go visit Jack first to pick his brain since he knows that he is at the hospital. But don't know how the visit to Jack will go though considering he is a stubborn ass most of the time

I wonder if Minkowski had found a constant if he would have had the same power as Desmond in jumping between universes.
This episode was awesome....not a lot of answers, but at least we get the mind-blowing reveal that it's not just that they are POSSIBLY aware of the other timeline, but one, for sure, is. I wonder if Desmond received his knowledge because he touched his constant?
The two timelines have to merge somehow....one cannot simply cease to exist. If the OT ceases, then there is no Charlie Hume and no Ji-Yeon or however the fuck that name is spelled. If the NC ceases, then there is no child for Jack or Dogan and everyone who died stays dead, including Locke, which most people, like myself, would not like one bit.
Somehow we have to be able to reconcile both. Don't ask me how.

I know you're mentally retarded and all, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Lost will be one of the most mind-blowing finales of ALL TIME!

Re: Lost -- "Happily Ever After" -- 04.06.10
Based on the conversation between Daniel and Desmond, the ALT timeline is perhaps giving everyone what they wanted most. What I want to know is, is who is part of the group who gets this "gift?" Was it part of a deal made with Jacob/Mib/the island or something else? Are the people who died in the original timeline included with this gift/deal, too?
I decided to create a list of what I think everyone wanted and what they ultimately obtained in the ALT timeline:
Desmond: A good relationship with Mr Widmore - has it, but without Penny.
Claire: Wanted her son - she has him, not giving him up for adoption.
Hurley: Wanted to no longer be unlucky - he has lots of good luck now.
Eloise: Wanted her son back - she has him and taught him music to keep him away from the science world.
Ben: Wanted Alex back - got her, but in a teacher-student relationship instead.
Sayid: Wanted Nadia back - got her, but she is with someone else.
Dogen (dead? in OT): Wanted his son back - we saw him with his son at the recital.
Sawyer: Wanted justice for his parents - now a cop searching for the con man that led his parents to their deaths.
Daniel: Wanted Charlotte back - Charlotte is alive, he saw her.
Sun: wants a loving relationship with Jin - has it, but they are not married and no child.
Jin: wants a loving relationship with Sun - but still works for her father who dissapproves of the relationship.
These are not so clear to me....
Jack: Did he want a family? He now has a son in the ALT timeline.
Kate: What did she want? - still appears to be a felon.
Charlie (dead in OT): Wanted to have a life with Claire? - still a work in progress?
Locke (dead in OT): Did he want to marry Helen? - he married Helen, but still in a wheelchair.
Am I missing others? Who else got the same deal? Who above is NOT part of the deal?

Anyone notice the picture of the scales in Widmore's office in LA?

Miles has a good relationship with his father.
Locke seems to have a better relationship with his father.
Kate was "born to run."
Daniel wanted to be a musician, and not a physicist.
Charles Widmore has his family (that he had to sacrifice for the sake of the island).

I think I've finally figured it out: Jacob is a leprechaun.

Just watched this last night. Holy crap....amazing! As soon as the car went into the water, I thought of Charlie dying on the island and flipped out a bit.

I'm guessing Kate did something else to wind up her situation. Didn't her mom hate her for what she did? Perhaps she has a better relationship with mom now.
