Maybe I'm thick, but why go through the trouble of showing Jin all these pictures of Jeon and then finish with "let's show him the package" for it to NOT be his daughter? Of course, I realize that adding her to the mix this late in the game might be too convenient, but they also made a parallel point about Sun being pregnant in the alternate timeline just to get shot and presumably lose her baby.

I'm saying next week, we get our best chance at seeing Faraday again, same goes for Charlie, but I'm not sure if his cameo at the start of the season was all he was contracted for.

Jin->Jeon->Package->??? Sayid->Desmond It just didn't sit well with me this close to the end to either a) add another question or b) confuse me with red <s>V</s> herrings. |

I just realized that in the flash sideways Sun's name is Paik, so could this mean the Jin is the Kwon written on the wall of the cave? I bet Sun isn't the one either side needs.

I think that Jin is the Kwon, but for another reason. I'm thinking that all of the candidates flashed off the Ajira plane last season (Sayid, Jack, Kate, and Jack). Since Sun didn't flash off, she isn't one of the candidates.

We don't know what causes the names to be crossed out though so it's possible |

refresher, who hasn't been scratched out yet?

Rayes Jarrah (sp?) Ford Sheppard And I'm blanking on the last. I think there is still 6? edit: no that's right because Locke got crossed out and I would imagine Sayid is no longer a candidate either. |

Jacob was Satan (figuratively...I don't think they are the literal God and Satan and I don't think the island is a literal Hell) claiming the souls of people in the world and bringing them to the island for his own personal amusement. MIB and Jacob battled over the souls of the people brought to the island.
People will say, "But MIB kills people." I hate to burst your bubble, but God also killed people. Read up on the Old Testament. You never really hear about Satan killing anybody in the Bible...just tormenting them and claiming their souls when they die. And as far as Sun not being able to speak English...I am still leaning towards my previous theory and I am guessing she doesn't regain her ability to speak it and that's why she appears to not know English in the reset time line. And on that note...is it just me or did Sun stop to notice something different about herself in the mirror before Keemy and the gang came busting in? Much in the same way Jack noticed scars from the island. So perhaps Jack isn't the only one able to perceive the reset. Which makes me wonder if we are going to get some kind of "Watchmen" like ending where there's a hint that it's just all going to start over again some way, some how. Still not sure how Desmond is going to play in all of this with his role of the constant and being the one who was pushing the button. Unless he's the key for our heroes having a future in that reset timeline minus the MIB. I am not trusting Widmore at all here...but I do think that things are going to work out for the good of our intrepid heroes in the end. Man, you still think MIB is good after he basically told Claire that he is only using Kate and will toss her aside after she has served his purpose? I thought that was cold hearted there. Maybe the joke in all of this is that like life, things are not simply black and white. There is a whole lot of gray in between. |
Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
Couple of things.
1.) Kate is crossed out ONLY in the cave. She was not crossed out of the lighthouse wheel. During a podcast, Darlton said this meant Jacob must be misdirecting the MiB by crossing her name off down in the cave. 2.) Widmore showed Jin the pictures to MOTIVATE him to help Widmore's group. Obviously, Widmore is looking for a specific electromagnetic pocket of energy, and that plan must have something to do with Desmond. I knew Desmond had to be the package as soon as I heard them tell Jin what they wanted. |
Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
Yes. Kate's name is still listed at the lighthouse. She's number 51. Therefore, she is probably still a candidate.

Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
FLocke saying Kate is expendable lends support to the theory that he wants to kill all the candidates. He'll use her to get Jack and in turn, Hurley and Sun; after that like them, she's expendable.

Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
BIG Answer #3: The ALT Timeline is Actually Bleeding Through To the Island's Current Events We're seeing LAX_Sun's non-English speaking skills carrying over to island_Sun, and at this point there shouldn't be much of a debate about that. The more important question to ask is this: how long has stuff like this been going on? Is Sun losing English the same thing as season one Claire losing her memories? As post-Swan Locke losing his ability to speak? As Desmond losing his clothes? Is this what's been happening to characters we've seen reset or rebooted, and if so, when did it start? So many questions get potential answers here, it's actually kind of frightening. Were Desmond's "flashes" really just him experiencing the ALT timeline, but we were thrown off by this because he was visiting a past version of it? And while we're at it, exactly how many different timelines exist? Just because our LAX characters seem to have blasted themselves into the "Jughead" universe, it would be ignorant to assume there's only one. Was the Oceanic Six season nothing more than another alternate timeline, one in which Flight 815 really did hit the Indian ocean? Did Ben/Jacob really cure Juliet's sister's cancer, or was Mikhail pointing the Flame's monitor at a different timeline, in a different universe, on a different playground where that cancer didn't exist? If Sun's memories starts crossing over from the ALT universe, where will they stop? Will all of our on-island characters begin 'remembering' their LAX lives? If so, it makes sense that everyone on the island would end up enlightened by their own off-island experiences. This might be what drives them to make the right decisions - ultimately breaking the seemingly endless cycle of repeating their own mistakes, and thus being the cause of their own suffering. And if the two timelines merge, will it go both ways? Will the LAX characters gain sudden knowledge of their on-island experiences, and use them to move on with their lives? Is this where everyone's consciousness ends up when they die? Is this how on-island Juliet and on-island Sawyer can eventually go out for off-island coffee? These are all tremendous questions. The floodgates have been opened here, starting with Sun smashing her head into that tree branch. The possibilities are endless. The stories can wind in any virtually direction. The merging of character consciousness allows for both timelines to remain relevant, and for both timelines to mean something. It seems to be the answer as to where everything is going, and yet at the same time it also seems to be something that's always been there. |

This is not confirmed at all and the writers went out of their way to explain that Jacob crossed her name off in the cave, but not the lighthouse, to simply throw off the MiB. Don't be surprised if 51 is a candidate.

Re: Lost -- "The Package" -- 03/30/10
******
Timeline ****** ok, so in the s5 finale: Jacob/MIB appeared to be older (and needed barbers) MIB expressed his desire to want to kill Jacob Black Rock out yonder and the wide shot of the big statue intact >>>fast forward to the Ricardo episode: Jacob/MIB looked alot younger (and clean shaven) MIB put out his first hit on Jacob (failed attempt) Black Rock in middle of jungle big statue becomes big foot so i conclude that s5 scene obviously took place pre-1867. (or a very short time before Ricardo... so Jacob/MIB must have went and got haircuts and facemasks to look good for the ships arrival') why is it that the makeup people youngified Jacob/MIB to look younger when that s5 scene apparently happened prior to Ricardo arriving??? was it an error or am i way off? |
