I loved it. Totally worth the wait for his backstory and how much I missed the old flashbacks.
The part at the beginning when Richard laughed and claimed he had no idea what to do was great. Right in line with him jumping out of the bushes all season.

Honestly, I don't think we're ever going to find out anything about Jacob's powers, perhaps not even what makes the monster tick. I think thats why Darlton threw out the midichlorian reference when talking about answering certain things.
