I think what's going to happen is we find out is that the real timeline is in Lost and what we are in is fake and they'll end up watching shows about our lives.

I don't think anyone can make definitive statements about who smokey could/couldn't have appeared as. After Jacob was killed, someone mentioned that smokey was stuck as flocke because something had changed. Who knows if that was Locke dying, his body being brought back to the island, the death of Jacob, etc. Whatever the case, I don't think there's a reason to think smokey couldn't have been appearing as all the hallucinations previously.

-claire is hard core now. i can't believe that she just put the axe to that temple dude. my question is, how can flocke be her friend if smokey has only inhabited locke's body for the short time since ajira 315 came to the island? she's been out there for 3 years and so you would think that they've been 'friends' for longer than however long ajira 315 has been on the island?

I remember studying "The Annotated Alice" in school -- interesting insights into Carroll's world. Note that this is not just Carroll's original stories but an edition by Martin Gardner in which he includes many of his notes/comments on Lewis Carroll's writing (thus the "Annotated" in the title). I believe this is the edition they used in this ep:
http://www.amazon.com/Annotated-Alic.../dp/0393048470
I just thought I'd jot down my thoughts about the Alice allusions from last night's ep for you all to rend to shreds.
Go ahead, I'm used to it.
There are two allusions, one to each of Carroll's two main works. The mirror in the lighthouse is an obvious allusion to "Through the Looking Glass", and the rabbit statue hiding the key to his wife's house is an obvious allusion to "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". I think that with these two allusions, Lost may have given us an inkling of a two-way link between our current plot threads. Just as the mirror in "Looking Glass" allows Alice to see and even step through to an alternate world, the mirror in the lighthouse allows islanders to see the outside (alternate?) world. Similarly, just as Alice follows the rabbit down the rabbit hole to enter an alternate world in "Wonderland", the key under the rabbit statue might imply that this house holds the key to communicate with, or maybe even enter, the island world.
FWIW.

Also, haven't been too excited watching these episodes. Jack continues to annoy me with his crybaby antics. Waaahhhh I'm 30 years old and my daddy didn't love me. Get the fuck over it already. And stop breaking shit when you don't know what it does. He's a grown baby throwing temper tantrums.
Bad Perm Claire isn't very scary, and it was obvious what was going to happen from the first scene. The "reveals" in the alternate world are getting old already.
I don't know what it is, but something just feels missing this season. There's no tension for me. I just want it to be over already so I can be unsatisfied by the finale.

Now that we know the MIB is Smokey and can take on human form, I thought I'd throw this out there: When Mr. Eko saw his dead brother "alive" on the island, should we assume it was really the MIB in the form of Eko's brother? If so, why did he kill Mr. Eko? Was MIB able to take his form simply because his body was never buried?

The only thing that bothers me about the "potential candidates for Jacob" thing is that it's come out of Not-Locke's mouth. How do we know that he's entirely trustworthy on the subject?

Jacob has confirmed they're candidates but not for what. Flocke said Jacob is looking for a replacement. But can we trust him on the subject?

From Lostpedia:
All Jacob tells Hurley to do is tell Dogen he's a candidate. What side is Dogen + his crew on?
I'm still not convinced that MiB/Not-Locke is telling the truth about Jacob. I think the MiB is either telling a half-truth about Jacob's candidates, or the MiB is the one looking for a replacement (and Locke isn't the solution, but merely a vehicle for MiB).
Later, Dogen discovers Hurley, who now has detailed instructions written on his left arm, searching a hallway in the temple. Dogen orders Hurley to return to the temple's square but Jacob appears to Hurley and says he can do what he wants and instructs Hurley to tell Dogen he is a candidate. Hurley uncertainly asserts his status as a candidate and his right to do as he pleases. Dogen says something in Japanese to Hurley ("You're lucky that I have to protect you. Otherwise I'd have cut your head off."). After Dogen leaves, Jacob reminds Hurley that he has to bring Jack with him. Hurley is frustrated and doesn't believe he will be able to convince Jack to come and asks Jacob for suggestions on how to persuade Jack. Jacob only gives a wry smile.
