that came off as "complaining"? I guess the difference between writing about an observation and complaining is just one word. Maybe if I had left "shock" off, it would have been clearer ... but then again maybe not.

I'm thinking Sawyer was able to see the boy because he chose to follow the MIB, Richard did not.

Perhaps because Sawyer is a candidate while richard is not??? Is Sawyer seeing the boy the catalyst for MIB taking Sawyer to the cave?

Also, a new question is why is MIB stuck in Locke's body?

It's moments like the scene between Hurley and Locke that make the alternate timeline awesome.

I thought it was quite obvious the little boy is Jacob. It seems like people need everything spelled out for them or else it's a new question that needs answered. Use your brain people, thats why you have one.

In LA X, Jacob tells Hurley that his friends, including Sawyer, wont be able to see him because he just died an hour ago. So why can Sawyer see this kid all of a sudden? Something's wrong!

Really? Because I'm sure most of us are trying to figure out how he can show up at all, why he showed up as a boy, or why only certain people can see him at certain times?

Maybe the fact that Sawyer can see Young Jacob is due to Ilana taking the ashes from the pit.

Young Jacob said that MiB broke the rules and killed him. I was curious about this too. Since Ben only stabbed him then MiB actually kicked him into the fire. Technically, MiB killed Jacob. All that planning and his emotions got the better of him.

Also, didn't Ben say he couldn't kill Widmore because it was against the rules? When Alex was murdered he said the rules were broken.

Pretty sure he was referring to Sawyer. The MiB could have just let Sawyer plummet into the rocks, but didn't.

I figure everyone whose name was on the wall would be able to see the boy, faux Locke can see him because (if it's Jacob and all) they were like rivals or something, and Richard couldn't see him because he like Ben wasn't a "chosen one". He just did what he was told without ever seeing Jacob personally.

But why he's a boy ... that's about as clear right now as why Christian was walking around on the island alive.

Jacob was always the same age for maybe hundreds of years so when could he have been a boy?

I don't think anything changed from her just taking the ashes. I think we'll see the result of that after she takes those ashes and pours them in the temple spring.

let's go back to the protecting the island thing that Fake Locke is talking about. So, was Charles Widmore the protector of the island before?

Awesome episode.

Just some rumblings:
- nice to see Smokey's POV moving around the island and then transformed into FLocke
- I have a feeling Jacob is not good either
- It seem it's destiny for Jack to fix Locke in the sideway timeline
- In sideway timeline, Locke wanted the construction job. He told Rose about experience. Maybe he was paralyzed by falling in a construction site in his job
- Why Ilana, that Japanese dude seem to know WAY more than Richard or Ben. Man, Jacob really used them.
- Love Ben being Ben when he lied to Ilana about Jacob's death and at the funeral for Locke

Jacob seemed ageless whereas Widmore grows older. Widmore was in his teens or earlier when came to The Island, so we can assume Jacob was still in control at that time. I think Jacob was the protector of the island long before Widmore was even alive.

He only said he is "stuck here" didn't he, didn't say he was stuck in Locke.

He was talking about Sawyer.

Unless this was not Jacob and he was saying he can't kill Jacob (kickking him into the fire).

I think Ben asked Ilana what if Smokey change to others. Ilana said he is stuck in this form. Not sure she meant as Smokey or as FLocke.
