She greatly appreciated how Andy named the card characters "Snoopy" and "Woodstock." Just awesome.

LOVED this ep., esp. when Michael landed "the new Gentleman's club," Curves.

Awww, he used to be a d-bag when he first appeared (remeber his temper?) but has grown into such a funny goofball.

You think he's still a jerk?

I hate Erin, so I wouldn't mind Andy and his temper murdering her.

Yes to this. I hated Andy when he was first introduced. Now he's one of my favorite characters.

Best episode since the wedding episode.

Jim having sole authority over Dwight had the potential to be both interesting and funny.

Another good episode in a great season. Not as good as others have been (again, if I wanted to see "2nd Season" versions of these characters, I'd pop in the DVDs) but the writers haven't let me down yet.
I get what you're saying. I always say that the first couple seasons were the best and how it's gone downhill, but I agree that they probably can't just go right back to how it was back then. Like you said, the characters have grown a little bit, well Jim, Pam, Michael and Andy have. The others are all pretty much exactly the same. Obviously they can't undue Pam's pregnancy and her move to sales, but still keeping with the current version of the characters they can at least bring back the charm of the first couple seasons. Erin is great as the "new" Pam. Jim back in sales is a great way to do that as well. I'm sorry, but he just didn't have much point as the co-manager. He didn't do anything and wasn't funny. Now, without the "responsibility" he can do what he used to do. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

I never expected Jim to be funny or good as a co-manager. That's the whole point. I was willing to go with the show and see how it went but it was obviously a bad idea from day one...as it often is in real office environments. I applaud the writers for taking a chance and pushing Jim beyond his one-note "office yukster" persona from the first few seasons.

Same here. I can't stand the facial expressions she makes.

Enjoyable episode, but then again I thought last week's was good too

I don't really care for the Ryan/Dwight team up though.

I think the thing I like the least about the last couple of seasons are the crazy story arcs, like the Michael Scott Paper Company and the latest acquisition. They just seem a little forced.

I much prefer it when the stories are focused around mundane, day-to-day stuff. Holiday parties and stuff like that. You know, small-picture stuff.

What's funny is that Dwight dressed up as Jigsaw for Halloween in an earlier ep. this season, yet did not know what the hell Saw actually was when asked about it.

As long as Jan doesn't come back, I'm a happy camper. Hated that b*tch.

Yeah, Jim's place seems to be in sales. It's a better fit.

And Andy is growing on me, since they changed the direction things are going. The whole Angela thing was a turning point for his character, I think. It made him more goofy and lovable. And of course, the fact that she cheated on him made him sympathetic.

I hope he and Erin can work thru all that skirting around the issue crap and finally get together. But it's cute how shy they are about it.

Oh, and bring back Holly FTW!

He caught on eventually though once he knew the context.

Just curious why does everybody love Holly so much? Isn't one Michael enough?

Starting your own business and getting acquired by a larger company? There is nothing crazy or unusual about either of those plots.

"Crazy" is probably the wrong word. I'm talking about the big, sweeping "shocks to the system" that the writers/producers seems to think is needed to keep it fresh, when it is the day-to-day interactions and relationships that make the show work for the most part.

I think it's a chick thing.

Holly made Michael happy. She was able to bring out the more normal parts of him, and accepted the less normal parts. She even went so far as to match those parts.

After the b*tch that was Jan, Michael deserves someone who won't use him towards her own end.

The character of Holly was written to make Michael more than he was. I liked that.

Re: The Office -- "Manager and Salesman" -- 02/11/10

Anyone else think that printer she showed looked like a complete POS that no business would ever buy in this day and age? Also, she said nothing about selling ink/toner which is where the real money supposedly is in that business.

Maybe Sabre will end up failing and the Michael Scott Paper Company will be resurrected? /conjecture

Michael has shown time and time again that he's a whiny, childish, vindictive, selfish, racist, homophobic jerk. Frankly his character doesn't deserve much sympathy in my opinion.

Sure, there have been a handful of times when he's done the "good" thing and looked out for his "friends" and co-workers, but more often than not he looks out for himself first and says screw everybody else and then wonders why nobody likes him.

I mean he's a good character at times and is funny at times, as long as not TOO much time is focused on him but, overall, his character is a worthless jerk.
