The fact that Sayid was tortured nearly the same way twice for the same reason makes me think that Rousseau was really an Other and the real Rousseau was long dead like that other Other said.

the thing that is going to piss me off about this season is the fans' need for every single little detail to be explicitly spelled out or else it's "ambiguous."

You sure about that?
The fact that Smokey/Man in Black can take the human form of anyone he wants (such as Locke) leads me to believe that Island Christian was really Smokey/Man in Black all along. After all, it was Christian who took Locke "the rest of the way" and showed him the big wheel...

No kidding. The Rousseau/Clair parallel is probably one of the most obvious things they've ever done on the show and yet we're still arguing it. I think a guy could've come out in a smoking jacket, turned directly to the audience and said "See? Claire now resembles Rousseau! No ambiguity here, folks!" and there would still be arguments.

"Pop-ups aren't canon!"
I wish the pop-ups would have less "obvious plot" stuff and more "behind the scenes" stuff. In fact, they never have behind the scenes stuff.

I DO NOT remember Kate "staging a prison break" like he said and her knocking him out with the butt of her rifle. He also said Sawyer shot someone on his way out when he left the temple...didnt see that either.

Yeah, I get the metaphor, but still, there needs to be some 'splainin here. Do they have relatives of all the important Losties hanging around in closets? That was one of the biggest WTF moments for me in the show. Some level of closure would be nice.
Didn't know that. Good to hear.

Lockes' dad explains this to Sawyer. He was in a car accident in Tallahasse and next thing he knew, a bag was thrown over his head and knocked out.
It's obvious they kidnapped him and brought him to the Island

Re: LOST -- "What Kate Does" -- 02.09.2010
I bought the issue of EW which claimed to have revealing theories and answers about Lost. Yea right. I was disappointed when the writers stated that they will not be answering every single question on the show. Only ones that are important to the characters. They even said it may not be possible to explain what the Island is exactly.
In other words, a lot of stuff will just be left to your imagination.

At the time it seemed like a strange set of events. It's a lot of work to kidnap someone thousands of miles away on the off chance that you might need to mess with Locke's head later.
I guess compared to some of the events we've seen since then, it is somewhat mild in comparison.

It's disappointing, but I understand where they are coming from. If none of the characters have an interest in knowing the answer to something, and there is no natural way to integrate that revelation into the plot, it's pretty hard to address it without resorting to some artificial plot device.
