I don't imagine that they would get a recognizable actress like her to play that character if they didn't intend to have her show up for more eps in the future.

The orientation video with Slater during this episode was great. What a random celebrity to pull to. I was laughing through most of that. Kathy Bates looks freaking hilarious too, and she's going to appear in person on tomorrow's episode..which should be a good one

Exactly. If everything stayed status quo from season 1-3 even more people would be bitching about how they were sick and tired of the "will they or wont they" with Jim and Pam. Thank goodness the characters progress over time. Every episode can't be Jim pulls prank on Dwight, Michael says something dumb to Darrell, Pam secretly likes Jim even though she's engaged. As funny as all of that is, it doesn't make for a hundred episodes. I think they have struck a nice balance in moving the show and he lives of the characters along a realistic track (for TV characters) without letting them get stale or too bizarre either.

I wouldn't mind seeing Holly come back into things either, but also what about Todd "Fudge" Packer? In fact, they realy haven't addressed anything yet about the other branches and the characters we know from them. I need to know how Shirty, Mole, Lazy Eye, Mexico, Baldy, Sugar Boobs, and Black Woman are doing, not to mention K for Knocked Up Karen.

IMHO, Packer was a useless character.

He was originally intended to be the 'Chris Finch' of the U.S. Office, but I think they realized he didn't cut it and just stopped writing for him.

Finchy was obnoxious, but in a clever way that made the character funny. Packer was just an obnoxious turd.

If there are people out there that watch every week when they truly dislike the show, then yeah I don't see the point in that.
Let's face it. They keep extending the life of the show and this show isn't a long running idea. Look at the British Version. What, 2 seasons?
The show is getting a bit stale for me too but I am still watching it.

What's up with Michael's hair? I know it's a hairpiece but why the sudden switch? It's drastically different and pretty distracting from scene to scene.

2 seasons and a measly 12 episodes. I'm all for going out on top, but I think they could have stretched things out a little more.

His hair-style has changed like, four times throughout the show's run.

Watch an episode from season 1 - he looks like a different person.

Doesnt seem realistic since he was Michael's boss. Isn't it usually the people below the executive level who get laid off? Did this happened during the beginning of this season?

They explained it during the show. Sabre bought the Scranton Branch because it was more or less the only profitable part of the company. They laid off the upper management in the merge.

It happened like 3 episodes ago.

The last three eps were the

The Sabre
The Banker
Secret Santa

I watched The Banker and Sabre today on Comcast and did not see anything about David being laid off.

It was back in the episode where Michael first learned about the buyout. David told him that upper management would probably be let go, but that Scranton was safe because they were basically the only thing working right in the company.

Between this and the most recent episode's thread...I gotta say, you're a pretty shitty TVResearcher.

David Wallace mentioned in "Secret Santa" that he and most of the other execs would probably wind up on the chopping block. Michael's said to be the highest ranking employee as of "The Banker", so Wallace must've been axed between those two episodes. The layoff didn't happen on-screen, but I thought that whole thing was made very clear...

Re: The Office -- "Sabre" -- 02/04/10

Hmmm...
I have not seen the episode where they said David Wallace was being laid off.
I'm told it was three episodes ago.
Three episodes ago was "Secret Santa".
I haven't seen "Secret Santa".
How can I figure out in what episode they said David Wallace was being laid off?

Honestly not trying to be a dick here, but did you even bother to try this, this, or this? Any one of them might have led you to this, where you could have searched for "David Wallace" and found this:

"In the episode, Secret Santa, Michael finds out that everyone is going to lose their job from David. He tells everyone when he's not supposed, too. Then, they all get angry and call him to see what really happened. In the end, they find out it was all a mis-understanding and it was David and a few other people who lost their jobs."

Maybe you could message a mod and have them change your username to "MessageBoardQuestionAsker." I'm just sayin.
