Why in the world would you look forward to Seth Myers?!?

Jay Leno has a net worth of $250M.

He can just retire and play with cars all day long, do a little stand-up on the side if he wants to. I don't know why he needs or wants a new show.

Have you seen his wife? I'd want to work, too.

I like him alright on Weekend Update but I'm not sure if he'd have a good interview rapport.

NBC probably would be smarter to just let Jay do NBC jokes. He is still the #1 late night guy. Kimmel might have got higher in the first week or so but now that people are used to him at that time, he's fallen behind. As long as Jay is #1 & bringing in the $$$, they should let him stay as long as he wants. Once he is consistantly beaten, then remove him. They'd fell pretty dump if Fallon flops at that time & makes the Tonight show the #3 rated show when it was #1.

For Leno, if he still wants to work, will be either cable or syndication.

It's not that no network would take him it's that no network take him at his pricetag. Why pay tens of million for someone who's 18-49 numbers dwindle every year in ever increasing fractured late night with more people entering the fray every few years.

How are Conan's numbers on TBS, these days? I catch it online when I can but we cut cable a few months into his move to TBS so I haven't caught it as often as I used to. Is there longevity for him there?

Tv by the numbers had this posted last week.

Jay has now delivered bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Show" for the last 16 weeks in a row and topped "Kimmel" for seven of their nine head-to-head weeks. In total viewers, Jay has out-delivered "Late Show" for 20 weeks in a row and "Kimmel" for nine of nine weeks.

Not really sure if losing the 18-49 audience two out of nine head to head weeks is getting your ass beaten.

Looking forward to having Fallon replace Leno. Fallon will do much better with The Tonight Show then Conan did because in the end he is simply a much more likable person.

never underestimate Jay leno, dude's a survivor of the highest order..

can totally see him headlining a fox late night stint.. hes got 5-10 years left in him for sure.. enough to launch a late night show and groom an official replacement down the line....

I'm all for pushing Leno aside, but does NBC really think Jimmy will do any better ratings-wise on the Tonight Show than Conan did? Fallon better get an iron-clad contract that basically gives him the network if they take him off the show.

Jay's staff is toast no matter where they produce the show. The new host always brings in their own team.

Isn't Arsenio coming back on the CW in Sept? I keep seeing ads about that.

The Arsenio Hall Show is going to be syndicated show, so while some CW affiliates will carry it, it's not a CW show.

Anyone who is still watching The Tonight Show is watching it for Jay Leno. You can see celebs and musical acts anywhere. The ratings will drop with Fallon (and I like Fallon far more than Leno) but I'm sure he's much cheaper than Jay. It's probably as simple as money.

I like Conan but he has really mediocre bands on his show

Can anyone remember the last time he had a big musical guest or maybe he wants the young bands nobody has heard of performing on his show?

Also he does not get a lot of the top notch talent from Hollywood except for people working on CW shows or the Big Bang Theory on the nearby Warner Bros lot.

Would it be possible if Letterman retires Conan gets his job? I don't think Ferguson has a top quality set and it seems like he might be unhappy with CBS.

He did appear on the Tonight Show with Leno last week.

I dunno I wouldn't say Conan gets bad guests on his show. He isn't always getting top talents but it isn't like he's getting all no name stars either. It sort of seems like with Conan he usually gets one fairly big name actor or comedian or whatever on the show most nights and the other guest may not be as big of a name. As far as musical guests go I sort of think he intentionally goes for lesser known bands to be honest. I don't know that for sure but even on his old show he had quite a few obscure bands.

Ferguson didn't really seem unhappy with CBS in that interview. He always kind of gives the network shit but I think it's just in fun for the most part.

I think Conan's guests are what you'd expect from a "2nd tier" late night show. If anything the guests are pretty impressive for a basic cable talk show.

I love Ferguson but I don't think his style is broad enough for the 11:30 slot.

He makes a lot of CBS jokes but if I had to guess I'd say he generally happy with the network.

That's intentional, Conan enjoys "discovering" musicians, and while he obviously wouldn't turn away, say, a Justin Timberlake, I think his preference will always be to have someone on who's about to make it big rather than someone that's already blown up.

Conan has always heavily featured indie/college bands, first and foremost. Plus he gets a great assortment of guests, from the Tom Hankses of the world to the TBS "King of the Nerds" contestant types.

I've heard Letterman wants Jon Stewart to take over when he retires, so I suspect the job is his to refuse, which could easily happen since Stewart already has a hit show.

It would make sense that Jay is getting bigger 18-49 numbers on Neilson live ratings, since I suspect the majority of the people in that age range who watch Conan and Fallon do it on DVRs or on mobile devices/computers.
