Re: Report: NBC to Cancel LENO?
With all the money Jay has made, it kills me to know that, according to Jay himself, he only spends his 'stand-up' money and doesnt touch his 'Tonight Show' and 'Leno Show' money.
He has no kids, so I assume the money will go to charity when he dies, but, cmon Jay, help a guy out here!

TMZ is reporting he is moving back to his 11:30 time slot:

TMZ has been pretty reliable, so I'm inclined to think their story is pretty accurate.
Now let's hope some of the 10 drama pilots that NBC is developing gets greenlit to fill the 10pm timeslot in the fall.

Seriously though, that explanation of what NBC wants to do makes NO sense.

Hard to blame them for THIS decision, they're dying out there. Easy to blame them for being stupid almost to the point of an all-time bad decision to even make the switch.

Moving Leno back to his old spot at 11:30PM will stop that.
Any way you slice it, it was a failure. It's really too bad that Conan gets the shaft.

The problem is NOBODY is watching Leno, giving the local news ZERO lead-in. Where I live, the 10pm news on the NBC O&O went from a solid 2nd place to third, losing to the CBS station that has been in the toilet for decades.

They were also the 1st ones to report Brittany Murphy's passing before all the official sources reported it. It's not like this is the National Enquirer reporting it.

Coming soon to a forum near you: 100's of "I can't believe NBC put this garbage show at 10:00pm" or "Damn you NBC for canceling those 10 shows that had a solid 3 million viewers with a 1.0 in the demo" posts...

Leno has 1 'season' left. They can cancel him, and pay him out. Done. 10pm goes back to normal
or
they move him back to 11pm, either pay him the same or a bit more, and cancel Conans contract. I doubt they would dump Falon as they do need some 'fresh meat' in there.
Conan, go to Fox.

Re: Report: NBC to Cancel LENO?
If required, I could live with 1/2 hr Leno, 1 hr Conan, and 1 hr Fallon (I'd only watch Conan, though).
The thing that really sucks is that Conan said one of the reasons he stuck with NBC was loyalty.

Re: Report: NBC to Cancel LENO?
Honestly, I'm shocked Conan is still on. It's not the same show as it was when he had the 12:30 timeslot and neither incarnation is meant for a mainstream/11:30 audience. I feel bad for Conan though as being the guy who (ratings wise) is killing the Tonight Show, especially after following in the footsteps of the consistently unfunny Leno.
Conan is in a lose-lose position; if he continues on, he'll go down in the history books as a failure, if he does get dropped and goes back to 12:30 it solidifies him as being "second rate."
None of this affects me though, as I only watch Craig Ferguson.

Re: Report: NBC to Cancel LENO?
If Leno goes back to 11:30, that means that NBC is obligated much more financially to Jay than Conan.
Still, I cant believe they'd pull the plug on CoCo so fast. I dont buy the story.
