To be fair, he did have a "Visitor" badge.

I bet you it's a lot easier to wander into a police department and move around (even without a visitor badge) than you might think.

I doubt it. Our little PD in a town of 15,000 has a thick, steel locked door you can't get in unless you're buzzed in.

I think this is a pretty good set-up with the old CI showing up from out of nowhere, reactivating that dead storyline that this will follow the book series (I've been reading...quite a different feel) and Deb will discover he's the REAL Bay Harbor Butcher. She'll probably know for sure when Trinity goes after Dex's family and then gets himself compartmentalized in six or seven plastic bags.

Reminded me of Public Enemies.

The books and the TV show are two completely different things other than the first book/season. There is no "Trinity" storyline in any of the books, so those weren't spoilers.

It's also necessary to have a tolerance for ridiculous plot points or character motivation revealed through voice over. Dexter must have the world's best phone and the world's best memory to recognize the music of a single video arcade (which apparently plays only one song on its PA system all day, every day).

I'm really looking forward to this season ending. Whereas Season 3 was legitimately intriguing television, this season has absolutely crashed and burned with its soap opera silliness and forgotten plot points. Dexter's murder of an innocent deserves a season all unto itself, but instead it's been conveniently forgotten amongst the aborted suicide attempts, intradepartmental weddings, and crime-reporter daughters who somehow know that their secretive, distant father is the world's most successful serial killer.

And I'm still waiting for Rita to die in some horrible, inhumane fashion after dumping Dexter in S2 and then accusing him of having an affair when he found solace in the arms of yet another crazy woman. Sure, Lila might have been a murdering lunatic, but at least she didn't spend all of her time whining that Dexter "hasn't been present these past couple of weeks."

I think he recognizes the type of music being played is typical of a video arcade (not necessarily the exact same song - even though it was the exact same both episodes), and knowing that Trinity picked up his potential kid-victim there only to be foiled by him - he figured another attempt would be made at the same place.
What's dumb is that Trinity has eluded capture (or even identification) all these years, so he's good at covering his tracks - yet Dexter doesn't find it suspicious that Trinity would call from a place where the sounds give away his location (especially since he followed Trinity there one or two days prior)? How could Dexter not think it's a trap?

I have a question that I'm not sure has been answered. Did we ever find out why Trinity purposely bumped into Lundy even though he knew Lundy was looking for him? This led to Lundy being suspicious of him and making note of his description (which Dexter eventually found out). Any reason he would expose himself like that?

My guess is it's the same reason he leaves DNA at crime scenes: He gets a thrill out of it.

Similar scene ruined Public Enemies for me.

Yeah, I think it was a disposable cell he was using.

The other surprising thing that I forgot to mention was...how did Dexter check into that motel with Trinity? He would have had to have a credit card with a different name (which he presumably had no time to manufacture) to avoid suspicion, unless he paid with cash, which is...unlikely.

I think Dexter bites the bullet this Sunday. Either that or he gets found out about. Anyone know the title of the season finale?

Since Dexter was tagging along with Arthur, maybe he booked the rooms.

I believe it's titled "Wish You Were Here."

And majorjoe...that's possible, didn't think of that.

Re: Dexter -- "Hello, Dexter Morgan" -- 12/06/09

I've really loved this season but this episode blew, except for the awesome ending. Maybe I was just in a bad mood but this is the only episode I've fast forwarded the whole season.
I really hated the pointless AngHEL/LaGuerrrrta shit.
The whole framing of the other dude was a total fast forward.
Dexter "knowing exactly" the arcade Trinity was calling from and then not realizing it was a set up? Please.
Reporter chick ready to rat daddy out but then not saying a word when she realized they had it wrong.
Trinity waltzing around a crime scene board and no one notices? Visitors don't get that kind of access. OMG!
The total blow off of the Rita scandal.
Too much crammed into this episode and poorly crapped out.

can't wait for next week

That is not the title I heard but I'm afraid to post it as it is most definitely a spoiler if it turns out to be true.

Yes, Dexter, the main character of his self-titled show, is going to die. You read it here first folks!

The name of next weeks episode is titled

Either he dies or the Dexter as we know him is no longer. The show will go off in a tangent one way or another.

I don't know Dexter is so inundated with shit to do, it shouldn't be surprising he messed up. This has happened before to him, losing focus.

And the Rita Scandal wasn't blown off. Dexter punched the dude. Rita wanted Dexter to react, and he did exactly like she wanted. I don't think it is resolved though (not that it should), Rita and Dexter will always have issue.

I think the intention was for the episode to feel too cramped, that is Dexter's life at the moment.

I want this to be the case. I want the show to have a finite ending and not just fizzle out. If they go into a final season knowing such ahead of time it could make for an amazingly crazy ride of a season. I'd love to see the fallout of everything unraveling in Dexter's life and him being found out. I'd take that at the cost of the end of the show.
