I've been largely unimpressed through the first three, so I'll watch this fourth installment on the off-chance the story arc takes a nice twist. Though at this point I don't see myself wanting to make the leap to watching an entire series.
I've stuck with it so far because of:
1. general boredom on Tuesday nights
2. Morena Baccarin
3. I enjoyed the original (but I was a dumb teenager back then)

Last week's was pretty good, but you should probably label this as the series finale, as this show is DOOMED.

Well, this was originally intended to be a midseason 2010 series, but they moved it up because I assume the network liked what they saw in the 1st 4 episodes.
But, the reason for the long hiatus has been mentioned before and there are several articles floating on the internet that explain it.
1. ABC forced the studio (Warner Bros) to shut down production after the filming of episode 4 to re-tool the scripts for future episodes. Episode 4 actually just finished filming around the time episode 1 aired. The show actually got off to a very late start in production, because it was originally suppose to be a midseason series, hence that's why only 4 episodes were shot before the mandated shutdown.
2. Warner Bros. just hired a new showrunner, Scott Rosenbaum, who was a Producer on Chuck, to oversee the show.
3. Most episodic shows take anywhere from 8 days to 2 weeks to film 1 episode and because they are resuming production in January, they will need to be at least 6 episodes ahead (hence March start time)

I'm pretty sure that I won't miss this while it's gone.

Won't this show be on right before LOST when it returns? Might boost it's ratings but this kind of show never survives on network tv.

Exactly-- this "V" is so generic just about every character and plot point in interchangeable with just about any action/conspiracy show. The one from last Tuesday was the most generic, bland, and dull one yet. (Except for the one "twist" moment.)

Surprised to see some negative posts in this thread, as I've thoroughly enjoyed all the episodes thus far. I'm looking forward to its return in March; they ended it with some good cliff hangers so it'll suck to have to wait three months to have things resolved. And again, I love that they are moving the plot forward at a pretty quick pace with each episode.

I really, really, really, really, really hope that John May is played by Marc Singer!
Tonight's ep was the first one that I haven't watched on Hulu. I thought that it was great, but hated a few of the telegraphed parts:
Seeing what "Bliss" is was cool and I wish they would have showed part of the "Skinning"... oh well, gotta wait until March.

I've liked the Fifth Colony story.
Tonight's ep was pretty predictable with the V finding the health issues with the main characters.

Fifth Column stuff was cool, Anna and Lisa make a great evil mother-daughter team, and Elizabeth Mitchell still has the MILF thing going strong.
That said, I don't feel this ep. did the job it needed to maintain my interest in this series until March. I found the whole "Bliss" thing to be pretentous and reminiscent of a "Remember to Wear Sunscreen" moment. The whole assassination attempt on the priest at the end seemed like a cheap ploy, and I was not hooked by the sudden appearance of a bunch of CGI spaceships headed towards earth.
I might be back in March, if I can remember.

I don't see sci-fi/aliens really doing any worse just based on their genera. And this doesn't even really have the sci-fi feel to it. It seems much like LOST to me, which somehow is well liked.

I love that explosive was on hand to destroy the compound that the V were going to introduce into the flu shots. I'm sure every lab keeps plenty of explosive on hand for just that purpose.

That was what was the most shark-jumpiest thing about 1x03 for me. Not the concept of the 5th Column, but the heavy-handed way it was handled on the show. The way they were talking about The Fifth Column made it sound like the name of a band, and all the running around looking for former members was like a sit-com with a middle-aged man trying to get the band he used to play in back together. "Hey, let's restart The Fifth Column everyone!" The Greens Brothers, maybe...
