I liked the cast and am going to give it a chance and make up my own mind but just curious what people that have watched the progression of the show think.

The show is 1st and foremost a procedural like most USA shows. The plots are mostly about the "White Collar Crime of the week" and the character interactions are pretty strong.

But, season 1 was probably the most serialized of the series thus far.

Oh, man--the hot chick from V! Nice to see her again. And Hilarie Burton, too.

Re: White Collar -- "Parting Shots" -- 7/31/12

Caught up with the last 2 episodes last night including this one.

 Really Nice seeing Laura Vandervoort and Hilarie Burton in the same episode.

It was nice seeing Sara back, but I think the writers made a wise decision cutting her back to a recurring character. There was just not enough plot to keep her around and make her interesting, especially too since she and Neal are no longer together. I do enjoy her popping in every so often and teaming up with the White Collar team.

I enjoyed the case of the week with Vandervoort and Neal's undercover operation. It's cool to see Peter back with White Collar. Not surprised at all that Neal's friend was taken out. Now it looks like the main arc for this season is Neal finding out the truth on who his father is.

Bummer that there is no episode this week.

Another good episode. One thing I like about this show is that Peter is as sharp as Neal; it's fun to see them play cat-and-mouse. I love how they smuggled the art out in a garbage can.

Next week should be a good Mozzie episode, since it seems to deal with

Spoiler:
government conspiracies.

Re: White Collar -- "Honor Among Thieves" -- 8/14/12

 Just got caught up with this episode tonight.

Really fun episode and Rebecca Mader was a fun guest star. She's been doing well and getting alot of guest starring roles after Lost ended.

The stuff that I thought was interesting was the little flirty sexual tension between Diana and Abigail. It was interesting to hear Diana confide in her about Christy and it turned out to be true.

Kind of ironic that both Marsha Thomasson and Rebecca Mader are British, but Thomasson is playing an American.

The whole cat and mouse game and the art heist was really fun. I agree it's cool to see Peter put the pieces together.

I've read a few comments from some posters here how they aren't really enjoying shows like White Collar or Burn Notice because they are way too fluffy. I disagree with that sentiment. You really can't compare a show like this which is more fun caper of the week like the Oceans movies to a really dark show like Breaking Bad and say that White Collar is inferior. It's two different audiences, genres and mindsets you have to be in.

I mean C'mon, that's not a fair comparison at all to compare someone like Neal Caffrey and Peter Burke to Walt and Jesse. Total apples and oranges.

You can't really disagree with a sentiment. It's something someone feels, and I'm one of those people. I wasn't comparing White Collar/Burn Notice (two shows I've watched since the beginning) to Breaking Bad/Mad Men--I was just saying the latter two make it more difficult for me to watch the former two.

Think of it more like this: You've been driving a Mercedes, and you have to borrow someone's Saturn for a while. It just feels...lesser. Again--not comparing the two exactly because the Saturn isn't trying to be a Mercedes, but even knowing that you still don't enjoy it just as much because you've seen how good things can be.

That's where I'm coming from anyway, though I'll still finish out the summer seasons of both Saturns. (And I find Suits on a different level, by the way, at least a solid Toyota.)

I don't think the comparison is apt, since it implies that shows like White Collar are lesser because they have a different focus, and that shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men are automatically better because they are darker and try to be more substantial. It's more like comparing a 4WD SUV to a convertible: they're intended for entirely different goals and mindsets.

Or it's like comparing liver and onions to cotton candy. One may be hearty and filling, if you can acquire the taste for it, while the other is light and insubstantial, but sweet and appealing. Certain people may prefer one to the other, but neither is "better" than the other. And then there are some who enjoy both, since eating too much of either in one sitting could be an ordeal. One can be a palette cleanser for the other.

For the record, I watch all four shows (White Collar, Burn Notice, Breaking Bad and Mad Men) and enjoy them all for what they are.

Sorry you don't think it's apt, but it's how I look at things.
Also I hate liver and like cotton candy.

Okay, that scene with Peter and Sara posing for fake blackmail photos was awkwardly hilarious. I liked that Elizabeth was giving them direction.

That "fixit" woman makes a formidable foe for Neal and the gang. I'm sure we'll see her again.

I guess I must have missed it, but how did she get on to Mozzie?

Re: White Collar -- "Compromising Positions" -- 8/28/12

I don't think it was mentioned explicitly other than when she was talking to Neal she said that she was watching those close to him, so she probably tailed Mozzie after he left Neal.

Yeah she looked different. Probably because she had her hair down. I think Ms. Gold usually has her hair up.

Episode 9 of 16

This aired last night. Forgot to post this thread. For those who aren't massively behind on this, next week is the summer finale.

Re: White Collar -- "Gloves Off" -- 9/11/12

Peter and Neal have broken up more than Ross and Rachel.

Fairly light episode to set up the final next week.

Fearless prediction for next week.
Spoiler:
Treat Williams is not "Sam" but Neal's father. The real Sam is dead and Treat took his identity. There were a lot of hints in this weeks episode like the file without the photo and Sam and Neal's talk.

Anyone know if FORD paid for a promo in this episode?

If it keeps a show I really like on the air, I dont mind a little product placement.

I guess, but when they make it so painfully, glaringly obvious, it almost takes a step from "product placement" to "commerical in the middle of a show." Like I see Neal's computer is an APPLE, but they're at least a hair more subtle about it.
