Re: And the first new series to be cancelled will be????

Dollhouse, while having much lower numbers than this time last year is still pulling around the same numbers that it did at the end of last season when it was renewed. Hopefully that means that Fox will hang onto it as long as it doesn't dip any lower.
(Though that may just be the denial talking.)

Not a new show but I didn't think it warranted a new thread:

A&E Cancels The Cleaner

I liked this show.

At the very least, Dollhouse is already into filming its 8th or 9th episode of this season, so if Fox cancels it sometime during this season, it'll still probably have a chance to complete its 13-episode order.

My wife and I watched the premier of Mercy last night. I was ready to pull the plug after five minutes. My wife said let's finish it and two (or was it three) hours later we both were done with it.

I can't see this show lasting. But then, Private Practice is still on.

Think that was in '08.

And by "easily replaced" do you mean reruns of HOUSE which arguably would have gotten better numbers as a repeat than the Dollhouse season premiere?

Well that said, I don't see much hope for this show. It has been pretty universally panned by critics. NBC should have no problem finding something to replace it with since they only have two-thirds of the programming slots than they had last season.

Dont they have two-thirds of the slots because they sucked at programming and couldnt come up with anything better than Leno?

I think the NBC plan is to move Leno to 9, push Conan to 10 and fill the 8-9 slots with reality TV and shows with former SNL cast members.

If you're going to get crappy ratings, you can either make better shows or make cheaper shows... with the Leno show, NBC's strategy is clear.

I think we have a winner. Something called The Beautiful Life on CW has been canceled after airing 2 episodes.

Oops. I just saw an article about it dated 9/28 and they acted as if it was breaking news. I only looked at the posts in here from yesterday and today to see if it was mentioned.

I could see that entire list minus Fringe. Is it really doing that bad that Fox would consider it?

I can't see Parks and Recreation getting canceled either. As for Dollhouse, maybe at the end of the season, but this thread is about new shows anyway.

Brothers---Likely
Dollhouse---Not Cancelled per se, but all 13 episodes will air and no 3rd season
Fringe----No way in Hell
Melrose Place----Depends how the next month of episodes goes, but considering The CW is so thin in programming, I think they will stick with it.
Trauma---Could go either way
Mercy----Could go either way
Parks and Recreation---If it continues to drop in viewers, then maybe. Or they could only produce the 13 ordered episodes.
Accidentally on Purpose---CBS comedies usually last a full to semi-full season
The Forgotten----If it drops in total viewers, then probably
Three Rivers----Don't know why everyone says this is as good as dead. Aren't there a bunch of Alex O'Loughlin fans who have been begging for him to come back to weekly TV?

The IT Crowd on NBC might be what you are thinking about. It was announced as being picked up as a midseason replacement. The show never went into production past the pilot though.

The one I'll always remember is "Emily's Reasons Why Not" with Heather Graham which seemed to be heavily promoted and then got axed immediately after the first episode aired. But I didn't realize there were so many one-episode shows.
