Re: Do Televisions Dream of Electric Sheep: Round 3!
General questions -- like The Dating Game -- were asked of the people in the videos. The contestant then selected someone for the date based upon their answers. There doesn't seem to be much difference in the process.

But all game show contestants go through an audition process before being accepted for the show. It sounds like Love Connection gave a prize first and then they appeared on the show and talked about it?

The only "game show" aspect to Love Connection took place during the audience vote. If the audience and the guest agreed on who they wanted to go out with again, they got some money to go on another date.
Overall, if it's a game show, it's a very weak one.

Wait, you said there is a prize that the audience votes on?
Hmm...would America's Funniest Home Videos be considered a game show?

wiki says "The show was a variant of The Dating Game in which a bachelor or bachelorette would select from three potential dates of the opposite sex."

Does a studio audience vote and you see how well you matched on your picks? If you have a high enough % and get to go to the football game would that not be a "prize?"

I have to drive home... I'd love to argue with Red Dog some more but I imagine it will be ruled incorrect and I will somehow be last in the standings to rub salt in the wound.
À bientôt.

I need to see true chronology of how it works, since at least 95% of the show is not a game. It seems clear to me that people who go on the show are there to find love (or at least lust); not to try to match the audience selection.
