Challenge: P.E. teachers are considered "white collar", not working class.

The next one could lead to all kinds of challenges

If my pick is unique (and I'm sure it is), no challenge. Otherwise, I'm challenging any and all shows.

Substitute teachers only need a high school diploma or G.E.D. and make around $20,000 - $25,000 a year. Pretty sure that wouldn't be white collar. Also, the character in the show also works part time doing manual labor/construction with his brother, which is definitely working class.

Tracer should have just pasted all the answers now, so that we can have the inevitable four hours of discussion while he's gone.

A blue-collar worker is a member of the working class who typically performs manual labor and earns an hourly wage. Blue-collar workers are distinguished from those in the service sector and from white-collar workers, whose jobs are not considered manual labor.
Sounds like teacher would be white collar. Construction worker should be blue collar

Quote: Damn. I probably won't be around to defend myself against challenges for my answer for the next question. Preemptively, I'll state that the core story of the show deals with a celebrity adjusting to being thrust back into the home of his working class brother, while he takes a working class job as a substitute p.e. teacher.
I foresee problems with that question. "Working class" is pretty wide-open. The question should have simply asked for a show predominantly set in the workplace.

I second this.

Here's the question: "Name any scripted series that examined working class life in America."

So as long as the series is scripted, and the main characters are living, American, and can be considered "working class", we're good.

So, Sanford and Son is acceptable. Steptoe and Son is not.

Damn it. I meant Meet the Press. I knew the show was (Verb) the (Noun) but I forgot which one.

At least it's a Sunday-morning news program.

Regardless of the outcome, Woolery then revealed the audience's vote. If the contestant's and the audience's (majority) choices agreed, Woolery would congratulate the couple for making a "love connection" and pay for their next date if they hit it off.
Whoops. It's a game show.

I've never seen Dr. Who so I picked the last guy on the list figuring that someone else would too ... yes I know I am late to the game.

Quote: That was a game. 3 people were competing against each other - by answering questions - to win a date.
The people in the three videos are answering questions and the person picks one of them for a date. Add to that the audience making a selection to see if they matched or not.

(Verb) the (Noun)? You mean like "Destroy the Score" or "Torpedo the Chances of Winning?"

Yes.

Tracer: There was a "game" in Love Connection: seeing if you match the audience's opinions and your date's. If you "won" you got a free date.

A teacher is not blue-collar. Blue- and white-collar jobs are not determined by your income. You can make $26,000 a year as a receptionist or physician's assistant. That's a white-collar job. You can make $125,000 as an assembly worker putting together airplanes. That's a blue-collar job.

I just got caught up and I wish I didn't. I really suck this time and to add insult to injury, I think my points are wrong. At the end of question 4 I had 10 points. On question 5, I answered Bob Barker and got -17 points. My score should have been -7, instead you made it -24. you need to add 17 points to my score.

Edit: nevermind it was a 2x question

Freakin' Sunday morning news. I'm just never watching tv on Sunday mornings. The closest I get is maybe NFL pre-game late in the morning. Sucks how one question drops me from top 5 to bottom half of the standings

At least I have multipliers coming up to give a chance for a top half finish. None of you better have matched my "non-white" answer!

The next question is kind of vague. As stated, I think a lot of things will have to be accepted. And I don't think you have to make it mean the show took place mostly at work. That would disqualify something like "Roseanne", which is one of the first things that come to my mind when thinking about "working class" television. Though I didn't pick that - which of course means someone else will get a unique bonus for it.
