Now, the commercial itself isn't terrible(okay, maybe it is ) but I hate... HATE the political correctness in this one. You have a white guy and an asian(?) guy playing football, then from out of frame comes the token black guy. What purpose does he serve here? I find commercials/shows far more distracting when it's painfully clear they are simply covering all their bases in regards to race.

I have such an aversion to the 5-Hour Energy commercial I wrote to Hulu and told them so. I told them I always click "No" as fast as possible for the whole Tailored Ad experience "Is this ad relevant to you?" question and that I absolutely would never use this product.

They sent me this response exactly one month later:

Thanks for writing in and I'm sorry that you obviously have such strong negative feelings towards Five Hour Energy.

We agree, it can be difficult to sit through the same ad over and over when watching long runs of programs. Right now the prevailing model in the TV commercial world is for advertisers to buy the rights to advertise against an entire show, to own what's known in the industry as ‘share of voice’. This means that you may frequently see the same advertiser's messages when watching several episodes of the same show. Most advertisers only have one or two pieces of ad creative, often which have been re-purposed from television, so even though we show fewer ads per show than broadcast TV, it feels more repetitive.

We understand this can be frustrating, and are working on it. We've been pushing for advertisers to create ads specifically for the online medium, so ad fatigue doesn't drive users like yourself to despair. We've seen a lot of progress in this area already, but we're not stopping yet, and are sure you will see continual improvements in the quality of ads over time.

I don't know if it's the douchebag hipster look of the people in the commercial or the fact that they think that just because you can talk about film, you should also try it as a profession, but this commercial annoys the hell out of me.

Mcdonalds is now running again this asshole's commercial. Again, who are they targeting?

I am getting sick of the commercial that has the little pig in the back of the car going "Weeeeee" all the way home.

I can't explain why but the McDonalds coffee ad with the guy/girl cheerleader routine using only arms at the table annoys the everr living fuck out of me. Same goes with the Jetta legroom ad with the tap dancing. The whole "look at me!!" aspect is annoying.

Change the channel on both.

Fruit Of the Loom commercial with the Fruit supposedly having upped-testosterone speaking in lower-pitched voices and a dude in a 'girl''s voice asking where the mall is. Anyone catch this yet?

The Burlington Coat Factory ad with the lady who speaks four languages fluently being out bragged by the lady who got her girls 4 dresses for fifty dollars at Burlington (Parlez-vous good deal??) really, really, really gets on my nerves.

How awful for me that it seems to run all of the time. I cannot get away from those ladies.

At first I felt some compassion for her, but they've been re-running that commercial for over a year and I'm sick of hearing about it over and over and over and over ...

I'm glad she made it though, but nobody wants to hear her story so much it removes the compassion and replaces it with nausea.

Some Geico commercials are OK, but they are not near as clever as Geico would have you believe.
