Yep. just the most atrociously awful idea in TV history. how the least funny hack in late night history has fallen ass backwards into this kind of success is mind boggling. i'll continue to watch the Office and 30 Rock...but that's it for NBC every week in this house. just horrid.

Well, I like Leno, but 5 nights a week, at 10pm, is a bit much. Give him Monday and Friday and I'd be alright with it. But at this point, with not watching CBS at all, Fox/CW not airing any shows at 10pm, and ABCs schedule I will likely watch him every night.

I would rather watch a chainsaw rape my mother than Jay Leno at 10PM.

I'm like 1/3rd of that age and no, I'm not retarded. I actually somewhat like Leno, but only typically watch him on Monday for headlines because I'm usually watching E! instead.

I just have to say I think it is a fantastic idea for Leno at 10:00 PM.
I think it will pay off in spades for NBC and is one of the best decisions they have made. Unfortunately I never really watch Leno and think this will cause COnan's ratings to suffer because of this and Conan is the only talk show I watch.

Re: NBC's 2009-2010 Fall Schedule - New/Returning Shows

Kinda early to tell, and probably doesn't matter, but Knight Rider just debuted in the UK

London, 20 May 2009: NBC Universal Global Networks today celebrates another ratings win for its SCI FI channel in the UK. First run dramas Knight Rider and Dollhouse together attracted over 700,000 viewers to make SCI FI the #1 pay-TV broadcaster during the highly competitive 8pm - 10pm timeslot.

Last week saw the premiere of the feature-length Knight Rider pilot - based on the 1980s original series - deliver SCI Fl's best series ratings since the first run of Heroes in 2007 (0.69 TVR). The second, 60 minute-long episode debuted last night at 8pm topped these results with a 0.93 TVR*, up 35% on the premiere. The results further cement Knight Rider's position as the second best performing series on SCI FI in over eight years.

NBC/Universal should put KR on Sci-fi here, or USA like L&O: CI

What a crappy schedule. I might catch Parks & Recreation if it continues to improve, but otherwise it looks like I won't be watching NBC until 30 Rock comes back in 2010.

Really? You know his show will only be 43 minutes long, right?

Does anyone know the length of Leno's contract in regards to this 10:00pm show? I'd have to imagine that it's going to be quite hard for them to get rid of him if it fails like most people think it will.

I'd say at least a minimum of 2 years.

So what is Lenos show going to be anyway? A Tonight show clone with guest interviews, sketch, or what?

That describes CBS viewers and not Leno watchers.

I think Heroes should return in 2010 so the writers can get their act together.

it might be off topic but I wonder if NBC will renew Sunday Night Football?

The contract expires in 2011 and Fox and CBS already signed extensions for 2 more years until 2013.

i can't imagine NBC wouldn't renew it. I think with the flex scheduling, they had some of the highest rated football games in years. The Eagles/Giants game early in the season, I believe, was one of those.

This is what I am thinking. At first I had hopes, but I think he would be better off being on just a few nights a week, like Monday, Wednesday and Friday or something. Every night is just too much. And when I heard on NPR this morning that they are really struggling to sell advertising on Leno's new show, that seals the doom. They are pretty much offering the advertisers to sell something on Leno's ass if that's what it takes to get some ad revenue for the show.

I never watched Medium but I did watch Earl and I think it's sad both shows had to end because Leno needed so much air time. And sadder still that Earl got the axe and Parks and Recreation survived. Pitiful. I am just about done with NBC. They still have the Office and 30 Rock, but for those there's always DVD.

I'd laugh my ass off if his show did fail and he wound up on in Carson Daly's spot.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not. A nightly regular prime time show has never been really all that successful. Recent examples: Dateline and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

If anything, if Leno does fail, I wonder what his likelihood of jumping to another network would be?

Look on the 1st post, do you see Life there? It was actually announced a week or so ago. The ratings just weren't there. I believe the season finale got barely over 4M viewers.

I didn't, which is why I made the post you replied to earlier. I wondered if it was being delayed.

I missed the announcement and I'm sad to hear it wasn't doing well. It truly was a great show. I wish another network would pick it up.

Re: NBC's 2009-2010 Fall Schedule - New/Returning Shows

I knew the Leno/dateline-esqe move would bump out a lot of shows, but never would have guessed it would be Earl. I know it's a pricey show, but was still getting viewers and Emmys.

I hope Leno tanks. He's really screwing over Conan. I just don't see a nightly "variety" show working in primetime anymore. Unless he makes it into some sort of game show/reality show, he's just wasting the time slot for good shows.

What is "Community"? Another Office ripoff like Parks & Recreation?
