If you want to split hairs T2 doesnt even make since. Since the premise in the original Terminator was that in the future Humanity won and destroyed Skynet. As a last ditch effort skynet sent back the Terminator to destroy Connor. Reese followed suit and the Time Machine was subsequently destroyed. So no one else could be sent back. So the only way T2 can be possible is if T800 succeeded in killing Sarah Connor.

I thought it was interesting that T:SCC and Salvation both involved the use of submarines by the resistance.

If Skynet possesses the means to build the time travel equipment, then it could rebuild it. So T2 fits perfectly. Not to mention, the first Terminator's chip and arm being left behind altered the timeline.

As for someone else's comment regarding canon and continuity, I've been a die-hard Terminator fan since T1 first came out on video. I stand by my beliefs that T2:Infiltrator should have been the basis for T3 and that TSCC must go on to sync up the story with TS.

If Skynet loses the war and is destroyed by the humans. Who is going to build another time machine? Thats why they make such a fuss over Connnor, because he is the one in the future who ultimately destroys them. If they can just keep coming back regardless then they shouldnt give a shit about John Connor.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles has been officially canceled.

Actually, I think Thrush makes a good point. The power grid was smashed and with Skynet's last dying breath it sent back a Terminator.
If the story is really good though, you can ignore these plot inconsistencies.

Cameron was the best addition to the franchise IMO. The T-X was too much, having a flamethrower, endoskeleton, liquid metal, buzzsaw, laser blaster, etc.
Salvation didn't look like the future that the first two depicted. I give credit to the T3 people for trying to one up T2 but once you start adding all these funky different Terminators it feels less Terminator-like and more like Invasion of the Robots.

I think the movie franchise only had room for a third installment, and unfortunately, neither Rise nor Salvation really delivered.

The TV series did.

I thought it was explained that by sending Arnie back in time, they introduced his tech to Cyberdyne earlier than they would have invented it. Thus, Judgement Day and everything was still going to happen because they reverse engineered the tech and screwed with the timeline. That's why there was an even more advanced Terminator available to send back in time.

This was shown when Arnie 1's arm and chip were in the vault.

Actually, Kyle Reese never told Sarah that the Human Resistance destroyed Skynet. What he said was, "It's defense grid was smashed.."

Skynet was losing the war and tried to prevent it's destruction by altering the timeline.

@ Brayzie - excellent post.

But in order for there to be an Arnold chip in the past. He still needs to be sent back from the future. If in the altered timeline they have more advanced terminators, where does Arny come from? If they Sent him back earlier then it still raises the problem of subsequent time travel missions I mentioned earlier. If in the "new" future the time machine/skynet/ still exists post Arnie then why are Skynet concerned with Connor since he obviously failed to destroy them?

This is the problem with time travel plots in general though. And not necessarily limited to terminator

Yes, LoL. My original statement was agreeing with Hokey that this kind of nitpicking, especially in Sci-Fi, was silly. And in defense of that, Lo and behold, here I am doing exactly that. Oh the irony.

It all reminds me of the conversation between Hurley and Miles, haha

Anyone see those hilarious Arnie soundboard prank calls on YouTube? I'm glad to see the whole Terminator franchise yielded one worthwhile product.

Thanks! It might not be much, but it's definitely a glimmer of hope. Would be great if they could make it happen and get everyone back on board.

They actually have a line in the novelization about John finding that part and throwing it into the molten metal, so someone was paying attention back in 1990

No. Just plain no.

There were only about 4 episodes (after the break in season 2 - IIRC) that were just plain god awful, but it was good other than that. Really good the last couple of episodes.

I thought the show was pretty good. There were some episodes that lacked -- but to date only Modern Family has delivered every single week.
