I am surprised to hear this. Noth has been vocal about his disagreements he had with Wolf ever since his contract wasn't extended after season 5. Not as vocal as Moriarty of course.
|
he came back once for that movie
and I'm pretty sure he's unemployed right now |
I'm not happy about this. Vincent D'Onofrio plays the perfect part. It's almost as if he's tortured. I would be sad to see him go.

Another vote for D'Onofrio MAKING CI. Without him, I'd cross it off my list...

Originally posted by movieking I would actually watch the show if they got rid of D'Onofrio. I would love to see Noth back. I hope that this happens! Bring it on! That would rock!!!! I can't stand D'Onofrio and I especially can't stand the character - Mr. Know-it-all. |
So Noth will definitely appear on the show with his appearance scheduled for January. In regards to cast changes, no one is confirming anything.

I agree pile knows everything about everything. Bring Logan back.

Woo Hoo!
Det Logan all over again. I might actually watch CI now. |
Excellent, I will definitely tune in for that episode.
|
No! Don't take Edgar the Bug Man away. He is one of the reasons I watch CI.
|
what this show really needs is an Ermey cameo

Originally posted by ivelostr2 I used to hate this show. I couldn't stand the D'Onofrio character for the longest time for that reason. Then I read the inside cover of the season 1 dvd (my girlfriends she loves this show). It says something to the effect that he is supposed to be a current day take on Sherlock Holmes. Since then I find his "Mr. Know-it-all-ness" less distracting and I can actually enjoy the show for a change. It is amazing how some small detail like that can allow for me to accept his character without getting mad at the ridiculousness of it. Nick Oh I knew that he was supposed to be Sherlock Holmes. I still hated the character. I really longed for a crossover btwn CI and the Original just to see Briscoe's reaction to his omniscience. |

Chris Noth returning to 'L&O' fold Will become regular on 'Criminal Intent' LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Chris Noth's guest appearance this weekend on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" is the start of something big. Noth, who left the original "Law & Order" 10 years ago, will become a regular on the spinoff beginning next season, series spokeswoman Pam Ruben Golum said Tuesday. He will split duties with current series lead Vincent D'Onofrio, who's continuing as police Detective Robert Goren. Each actor will appear in 11 episodes for the fifth season. The NBC series airs at 9 p.m. EST Sunday. Noth's casting will ease the work load for D'Onofrio, who was hospitalized briefly last year for exhaustion. "The hardest job in show business is being a single lead on an hour drama series," said "Law & Order" creator and executive producer Dick Wolf. "Vincent has done an unbelievable job for the last four seasons, but after 3 1/2 years, the grueling pace finally took its toll." He called Noth's addition to the show an "ideal solution." Noth, who was Sarah Jessica Parker's love interest, Mr. Big, on HBO's "Sex and the City," will again play police Detective Mike Logan, his character from 1990-95 on "Law & Order." Looks like I may become a semi-regular CI viewer. |
I'll check it out again. I've never been able to get into CI, mainly because of D'Onofrio.
|
I think I may watch, oh...11 episodes next season. Good news.
|
I was never a big fan of Noth on L&O. I'll continue to watch the show, mainly b/c of D'Onofrio.
|
The return of Mike Logan?

This news sucks.
D'Onofrio is the reason I watch this show. Not that I know whether Noth sucks or not, since i've never seen him on L&O, but this is disappointing news. |

I do not watch this show because the writing is horrible. Why have another detective in the city of NY when you have D'Onofrio? I like him, and I think he does a good job with the shitty character, but the writing is so distracting. It would have been a good series if they would have reeled in the character better and actually have the supporting cast be more involved then just being his gophers.
I will try and catch it this week, to see if Noth helps this series or not. Maybe he can go to TBJ if this does not work out. |
One problem I have with the show, and I've seen this on several eps:
a suspect (maybe not even a suspect at that point, just an interviewee) and his lawyer are in the interrogation room, and Goren is SCREAMING at the suspect about two inches from his face, and the lawyer just sits there and watches it happen. On L&O and other shows, if a detective or DA so much as asks a questions the lawyer doesn't like, the lawyer fires out a qucik "This interview is over."...... |
