Otherwise a great episode. I just started rewatching this season to get ready for next week.
How many characters have had 3+ actors/actresses play them?
Miles- baby, kid, present
Eloise- 17, midlife, present
Ben- baby, kid, present
Locke- baby(birth?), kid(with Richard), present
Locke had a 4th actor, teen in high school.

Well, I only have six things I can think of pointing me in this direction.

1.) Jack's family is hanging out in the cabin.
2.) Christian knew the baby had to leave with Kate, via info from Jacob, so he explained to Claire to leave it.
3.) Hawking told Daniel and Jack specifically it was their destiny to go to the island, and we saw how that turned out for Daniel. She knew she would help him with the bomb and something would happen.
4.) What are the odds that Jacob and the Jack/Bomb/Swan Incident are being brought up right before the finale.
5.) Jack 'sounded like Locke' tonight according to Kate. If he does turn into Jacob it makes sense to use the alias. Neither Ben or Locke may listen to him over the years if they knew it was Jack the entire time.
6.) Maybe Hurley saw the cabin because he is Jack's friend and Jack knew he would go with Locke and eventually lead him back to the cabin.

The only other character I can see changing their name is Sawyer, given his history as a con man. I don't think he'd care in the long run though.

The only problem with the Jack = Jacob theory is that Richard made a reference to Jacob previously when young Ben was brought in. If the Incident causes Jack to turn into Jacob, then why would Richard be referring to him before it happens?

Me too, and I think they will. I think we're going to find out something like the 815 survivors were basically responsible for everything that happened to them--a vicious circle.

I agree that Kate's character right now is kind of floundering.

I hope one day after all the DVDs are out and the show is finished someone on the Net takes this whole series and edits it in a chronological fashion. Could be very interesting that way after having watched it this way where every episode leaps between about three or more time periods.

I agree, Kate have been completely useless. Season 5 have been the best season so far and I bet the season finale next week is gonna be one of the best episode.

Before Sayid came alone, how was Jack planning to set off the hydogen bomb anyway? I don't think Daniel wrote that down in his book.

Because the Cabin/Jacob are flashing through time in some manner. Richard seems to know about Jacob during the 1950s.

Agreed. Never noticed until tonight when she came out of the water with her beautiful boobs clinging to her wet shirt.

Is the place where the Jughead bomb is kept the same place where Ben got judged by Smokey a few episodes back?

When Sawyer, Juliet and Kate were all chained to the table it reminded me of Fry from Futurama.

Holy shit, I'd totally buy that. However, I think it would be tough to edit it in such a way so that one day Boone shows up and you understand him and aren't like "Who the fuck is this guy now?!?"

Locke told Ben that the island told him, so I guess we have to take his word for that.

Re: Lost -- "Follow the Leader" -- 5/6/09

great episode. locke is just in total control now. he won't lose. he's one step ahead of both richard and two steps ahead of ben. ben can't mess with john anyway, smokey told him that if he tried anything, smokey would kill ben. sawyer has turned into a wuss this season. nice to see sayid finally show up. i knew kate would be against jack changing things. she's so selfish, she willing to sacrifice all the lives of those people since the crash just to stay out of jail. i hope she dies next. by the jaws of a polar bear.

So, was Richard the first Locke/Christian and arrived dead in a coffin via the Black Rock? Maybe people who are resurrected by the island don't age.

All the tunnels interconnect underneath the island. This is how smokey travels around. It's not the same place where Ben was. Ellie said they built a town over it so this must be under the barracks. Ben was judged under the Temple.

As yet another parallel to Season 2, I think Locke's plan (letting the clock run down to 0 vs. killing Jacob) will quickly appear to be a bad idea (hatch implosion vs. ???) but may prove necessary in the long run (showing Penny's people find the island so she can rescue the castaways vs. ???).

Re: Lost -- "Follow the Leader" -- 5/6/09

Again another amazing episode with amazing writing and editing.

The editing on this show is amazing. I would have never guessed that they would have done a pick up from a different perspective with that Richard/Locke injured scene from several weeks ago.

How the hell would Locke have known to be at that precise spot/time?

Also, why wouldn't Richard have had any memory of Locke from that precise spot in time when he initially disappeared when Locke told him to speak to him?

That was the first time it had happened for Richard.

I concur!

My head is starting to hurt with the whole "what happens if the '77 losties die" concept...

Has it ever been explained why Richard does not age? All the others aging around him do not even seem to notice or care.

I always thought that it would be a genius move on ABC's part to air a chronological Lost once the series ends - it could be a summer fill in - it would certainly draw a fair amount of viewers for reruns

Re: Lost -- "Follow the Leader" -- 5/6/09

Great episode! I can't wait for the 2 hour season finale.

About Spoilers. I used to read all of them, here and in other sites. I stopped this season. This season I started reading them after watching the show just to fill in into all the comment about them, but then last week there was an spoiler that was about this episode, so you can trust them anymore. So even after watching the episode I'm not reading any spoiler. But I'm fine about people posting them here and commenting about them.

I loved John being on top. Even Richard seemed like he was confused by everything and he always looks like he's on top of everything.
Surprised about the Kate bash fest here but let me join you guys.
I hated her last night and she even looked ugly!
I hope they show her naked or something like that next week to compensate for this episode.
I hated that I watched the previews for next week, I didn't want to know anything about it (yeah, if I didn't want to know anything I shouldn't watch it )

Re: Lost -- "Follow the Leader" -- 5/6/09

I love that once again, no one takes 5 minutes to ask Richard why he is immortal. Classic LOST.

I am so confused by all of the time jumping, random people (I'm having trouble keeping all of the Others/Dharma/various plane crash groups straight anymore) and younger/older versions of the characters. I seriously hope that time travel is completely over at the end of this season, as I think it has made the show very difficult to follow from a narrative standpoint and not just because they hadn't revealed all of the answers. It's been decent enough but I'm ready for them to move on.

The love triangle is annoying and should be cut. Why would they ruin the beautiful thing that is Sawyer and Juliet for some stupid relationship breaker like Kate?
