One thing worth noting on the food drops is that they were for the Swan station, which has now been established to be located in "hostile" territory. It might have been the easiest way to have food delivered.
It's also possible that Dharma may continue as an institution to exist outside of the island. Since the Swan was a bit more isolated (and possibly more secure) from the rest of the Dharma stations, they may have continued the food drops in the hope of survivors being there. All speculation of course, but I do hope they address this sometime before the end of the show, as I've wondered about this myself. |

I don't think the station was actually in hostile territory. I think everyone was just told that to keep them away from there.

Re: Lost -- "Some like it Hoth" -- 04/15/09
This is the first time I've watched that video and I'm glad I waited! It seems that they may shoot that pretty soon. Looks like Chang's arm is bothering him so maybe he was exposed to some radiation and loses it that way.

Yes, it was "so obvious." How anyone missed such a blatant fact within the episode is beyond me. And yet, multiple people throughout the thread have commented as such.
Do people not pay attention to the show, or are they really that stupid? Invisblegt: Calling other posters stupid is against forum rules and the tone of this post is insulting. There is a more respectful way to post disagreement.

As for the Swan, if it is indeed in hostile territory that might explain why they are instructed not to use the computer to communicate with the outside world and the fake quarantine thing. Maybe they were acting as deterrents to keep the inhabitants from being discovered by the hostiles. |

Re: Lost -- "Some like it Hoth" -- 04/15/09
I don't think it's in hostile territory, but I imagine it could be near enough hostile territory that the hostiles knowing the location and the persons staying there wandering around would be a serious concern. In my mind, I think I'm going to consider it as being right near the border.

He was obviously told things about the future including that he was going to die (and that Bush was president). The fact that he kept looking at his hand would lead me to believe that he was also told about his losing his hand in the future. |

Re: Lost -- "Some like it Hoth" -- 04/15/09
Well. I didn't state it as fact. I stated very clearly that I thought that was what happened. I didn't think elaboration was necessary.

It was necessary.... How am I supposed to know "He was obviously told things about the future including that he was going to die (and that Bush was president). "I think he was told that he is going to lose that hand soon????? |

Its alright, JZ1276, we can't catch everything. ;) Chang also said, 'If I can keep this pinhole open long enough [to transmit the video].' That's interesting. Are they trying to communicate through time? |
Re: Lost -- "Some like it Hoth" -- 04/15/09

I have a theory on the new group of players we have on the show. I have already mentioned I believe them to be the reconstituted Dharma, but I can take that a little further. Consider what we know: 1.) Chang finds out about purge, sends his wife away with Miles. 2.) Charlotte also leaves with her mother before the purge. 3.) In season three we saw Olivia, the school teacher, with a classroom of children. The show has never shown us what happened to these kids during the purge, nor did it get back to what happened to Annie. Lindelof and Cuse have mentioned during the last few months that both Olivia and Annie play big parts in what's left of the show. I'm going to theorize that not only is this new group Dharma, but many of them are kids that were taken away from the island by Olivia right before the purge, similiar to Miles and Charlotte. This explains why they seem to know a lot about the island, use a riddle question like Dharma did, and try to talk Miles out of working for Widmore. Who else would have known Miles was on the island as a baby but someone within Dharma itself? |
