Re: Battles BC (History Channel)
yes, who would think, but between the Universe, How the earth Was Made, Axe Men, Ice Road Truckers, UFO Hunters and MonsterQuest, you are hard pressed these days to find acutal history on the History Channel.
While I liked the Universe, it is hardly defined as History --- more like science. And Monsterquest and UFO Hunters is a bunch of speculation about what MIGHT have happened with a feeling of disappointement at the conclusion every time.
Don't get me started on Axe Men and Ice Road Truckers which might have qualified as a special, but hardly two seasons each.
It's good to have some history back. This along with Warriors (on Thurs) is a welcome relief from the dirvel that they have been churning out lately. Maybe people want that drivel or maybe it's just cheaper to produce, but it has tarnished a once great station.

The David episode had MUCH better acting than the Hannibal episode, but then again that is not saying much; all in all I like the series so far.
I did not realize King David was such a badass.

Oh yea David was a bad ass. I had forgotten about him switching sides though!
Joshua should be awesome! He pretty much slaughtered whatever got in his way. I dont recall Moses being that great, just fighing spats with local tribes trying to get to the holy land.

The David episode was much better than Hannibal.
It's funny seeing some of these actors from their previous History shows. I remember the guy who played Saul in this also was Leonidas in their 300 special.

Glad I peeked in this thread.
I've caught most of three of these today, I'm watching one with Abraham now. Joshua was good.
I always like another show on Trasimene, one of the greatest battles ever.
They could have had some of the unification battles of China, that would be cool.

while I knew most of the Biblical battles before this series, the Caesar episode was truly fascinating, and a really vicious batch of wars.

The series has been great. I'm going to order the DVD for this series when the time comes. One thing that I like about the DVD is that it said Season 1.
Which implies that there will be more than one season of BC Battles.
I hope that is the case.
Also: the show Warriors has been good too.

^ oh you know History Channel - there will be at least three more encores of it during the next few days or so. Hop on over to History Channel's website, I'd do it, but I'm feeling real lazy this morning.

I wish they would tone down the flashiness a little and flesh things out some more. Seeing the sword fighting over and over is monotonous, especially when they have these high ranking generals seeming to fight in every skirmish hand to hand. I know that stuff is suppose to be the hook, and I'm not saying I want it completely dry, but I think they go a little overboard with it. The narration can get repetitive too. I like the content, and the talking heads are good. I just wish there was a little more of that stuff.

I'd like to catch the Caesar episode. I did watch the Hannibal ep. and I can completley do without the '300' style.

It was funny how they turned "He slew the Egyptian" into a epic fight that ended with Moses bashing his skull in with a rock. From the bible passage it sounds more likely that Moses sneaked up and killed him unawares.
11And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.
12And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Re: Battles BC (History Channel)
Moses was a general and a murderer of women and children. But his depravities of warfare pale in comparison to those of the prophet Mohammad.
But since the religion of peace has a stranglehold on political correctness, the greatest murderer and executioner of on era, Mohammad's story of violent conquest in the name of god, will never be told.
It would be a chilling episode of Battles BC, one which would show the pure carnage that Muhammad wreaked upon the world.
Too bad, it be bad ass.
