Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
Another terrific episode. I still think Tuco's demise was still the best episode of the series, but this was a really good one.
BTW, one of the things that is great are the little production details, I loved Jesse's Jack-o-lantern shirt. That is exactly the kind of shirt Jesse would wear, right out of the markdown bin at the 99 cent store.

Another great episode. I thought Machete would have a bigger part...but that turtle got got (as Jesse would say). The only part I didn't like was the opening. Didn't fit with the tone of the show and lasted way too long.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
About Skylar and her new boss. I'm not sure if we were seeing the first signs of their attraction and what's to come or if something has happened between them in the past. I think it's pretty obvious that something will happen between them, but I'm thinking that when Walt finds out he may be okay with it. He knows he'll be dead soon and he might come to terms with the fact that it's better for his wife to be happy when he's gone and that his new baby will need a father. Any thoughts?

Regarding Skylar and the boss, I think she was telling the truth to her sister, but she made up the "welding fumes" story for Walt because she didn't want upset him. While I was watching I thought she was apprehensive about him hitting on her again, but the more I thought about it, based on the state of her marriage, I could see her having a fling. I don't agree with your prediction of Walt's reaction, dino. Walt has been show very prideful and have a violent temper. I don't think he would take the news well.
I also didn't entirely like the opening music video. It was a cool way to introduce/foreshadow the Mexican cartels getting directly involved. Maybe at half the screen time it would have been ok, but we surely didn't need the second verse.
And I hate to say it, but I saw the explosion coming as soon as I saw the turtle. It was a very cool sequence, but then I would hope the DEA would be smarter than that.

The whole turtle/head/explosion and the results of the explosion was pretty nuts. Love it.
Walt is becoming too greedy. I don't know how much time he has left, but the current pace he's making money (especially after the instant street-cred Jesse has now) is pretty decent. I'm assuming he has life insurance (I can't remember if it was mentioned in the first season) but between that and the amount of money he's making currently - the family should be provided for.
Walt's taking way too many risks and maybe he doesn't care about prison because he thinks he'll die soon - but it's not like the family will be able to keep the money if he's caught.

Did anyone else catch the recording that was playing in the museum? It was playing low but I heard the name Heisenberg. I googled heisenberg nuclear and found Werner Heisenberg. I don't remember if the show ever mentioned where he came up with the name.

Yes. It was a little hard to read, but the turtle had "HOLA DEA" written on its shell.

can you refresh my memory:
who did he rat out?
What meeting?
The guy looked familiar - but I don't remember who that guy was on the turtle's back.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
Danny Trejo played 'Tortuga', who was an informant for the DEA who appeared to have major connections with the cartels.
Obviously the cartel found out he was a rat and set his severed head on a tortoise, as his name is Spanish for turtle. It was a trap to hopefully kill some DEA, the cartel obviously had tortured Tortuga as they knew where the meet was to be and placed the turtle there.
I'm looking forward to tonight.
The lawyer who somehow finds out Walt, and implies he's out in the open if it's so easy for him to find him. At least the trailers paint that picture.
Along with last week's musical opening it appears the cartels are going to get closer and closer.

Re: Breaking Bad - Season 2 Discussion
The DEA was bribing Tortuga to get the time and location of a big cartel meet up, that's why they were camped out on the ridge with binoculars. They were planing on monitoring/busting the meeting. The cartel obviously found out about the leak and sent the turtle instead.

This episode was brilliant from start to finish.
Everything about it was fantastic. From Badger thinking the guy was a cop to falling for the setup to the introduction of and subsequent kidnapping and dealing with Saul to Walt coming right in between Hank and the DEA and playing dumb. This is good television.
