I'm guessing the title is a reference to
Spoiler:

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And you know this for a fact? I've been assuming all week that it's a reference to what the other poster quoted.

Entertainment Weekly seems to think it's a C.S. Lewis reference to a dedication page in the one-book volume of the Narnia series. Weird. We are all guessing different things.

That makes some sense as we know that John Locke's body is about to be returned to the island.

Nah.

3-1-6.

6 = Oceanic Six
3 = The three that don't want to go back in this episode.
1 = The One. The Oracle? I mean Daniel's mom? Or Ben Linus?

So there you go. Don't waste your time checking other links.

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that Kate Austen's character was named after the great philosopher, Steve Austin.

You know, I thought about that, but by itself, in a cast this big, with no context, I think it's not. There's no other way to categorize the spoiler.
