Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Yeah, I think there wasn't a ruse there.
|
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
to me, the ruse was that we were led to believe it was suicide, when it was really murder.

He died. No ruse.

Put me down for "no ruse."
|
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
I was actually going to ask about this yesterday, but thought it was a dumb question...
|
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Fair enough, it's not a ruse. The wording of the question wasn't my intent, but we'll go by the wording of the question.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
$54
$234 $120 $408!!!! Awesome. Bus, you've added a whole new level of interest to this show for me. You are my hero, as well as a DVD Talk Hero. Yeah, I wasn't going to count the ruse thing, either...and I bet on it. Drat. Looked like it was going to come true. |

I need some things on which to predict!
|
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Yes, I was about to forget for this week!
|
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
I'll have new predictions up shortly. I did ask people to send me suggestions via PM and I got a grand total of zero so far.
They'll be up soon. |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
I sent you one last week.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Alright... I have to say that keeping track of everyone's score is, at this point, going to be an impossibility. Since everything is being done publicly, there's no sense in me creating a database to track the scores. What I will do each week is keep a running tab of predictions that have already come true.
I'm going to see if I can find a workaround for this, but in the meantime, here's Week Three. With the extra week before Week Four (and the end of the season soon), I should be able to find a way. |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
LOST Game — Week Three
You have $30 to spend between these predictions. You can bet on any number of predictions. Any unused money from this week is lost. Predictions are in this format: {Number} Prediction (Odds) Previous, but active predictions (you cannot bet on these): Spoiler:
{021} A fake commercial / alternate-reality game is shown. (13:1) {022} Someone is shown underwater (camera/point-of-view is also underwater). (8:1) {023} The word "accident" (or "accidentally") is used. (6:1) {024} Someone gets knocked out. (4:1) {025} All scenes in an episode are on the island. (3:1) {026} All scenes in an episode are off the island. (17:1) {027} Juliet makes her default wide-eyed perma-smirk face.* (5:1) {028} No new characters (with speaking lines) are shown. We've seen every speaking character in this episode before. (7:1) {029} Sayid is shown building/repairing/fixing something. (14:1) {030} Sayid kills a "named" character (not a red-shirt or new-to-that-episode) character. (20:1) *<img src="http://media.decider.com/assets/images/articles/article/22918/mitchell_l_jpg_300x1000_q85.jpg"> Off you go! Post your bets here by Wednesday, March 4th at 8:55PM EST. Please make your bets in this format: {00X} $AmountBet OR {00X} Description $AmountBet Thanks! |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
I'm going to try this format. Can someone check my math? I think this is right.
<s>Base money: $78 ($24 + $24 + $30)</s> Irrelevant going forward. Paid predictions: Spoiler:
Active predictions: Spoiler:
Available funds: $286 ($292 - $6) New predictions (letting the wife pick these this week): $83 {024} Someone gets knocked out. (4:1) $29 {026} All scenes in an episode are off the island. (17:1) $20 {027} Juliet makes her default wide-eyed perma-smirk face.* (5:1) $42 {029} Sayid is shown building/repairing/fixing something. (14:1) $74 {030} Sayid kills a "named" character (not a red-shirt or new-to-that-episode) character. (20:1) Total bet: $248 Total held: $38 |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Paid Bets
Spoiler:
Active Bets Spoiler:
Total Money to bet this week: (W + BMn) - A = (489 + 30) - 22 = $497 {027} Juliet makes her default wide-eyed perma-smirk face.* (5:1) - $297 {029} Sayid is shown building/repairing/fixing something. (14:1) - $200 |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
My bet. I'll have to cross check the previous weeks with my other bets. Won money can be banked week to week, correct? I didn't think anything I had voted on came to pass yet (plus I thought you were tracking) so I didn't look them up.
$10 {022} Someone is shown underwater (camera/point-of-view is also underwater). (8:1) $05 {023} The word "accident" (or "accidentally") is used. (6:1) $02 {026} All scenes in an episode are off the island. (17:1) $05 {027} Juliet makes her default wide-eyed perma-smirk face.* (5:1) $03 {029} Sayid is shown building/repairing/fixing something. (14:1) $05 {030} Sayid kills a "named" character (not a red-shirt or new-to-that-episode) character. (20:1) |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
The problem is my spreadsheet can calculate total amount won, but it doesn't let you carry a balance. There should be a simple enough workaround, I just wasn't going to find it in time today.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Here are my results if anybody wants to double check, followed by a simple formula that we can use
Base Money = $78 Paid: $16 {001} A foreign language is spoken. (2:1) $48 {002} A gun or firearm is fired. (3:1) balance = 142 minus active bets {011} A Dharma logo is never shown during the episode. (5:1) - $12 {016} It is shown what caused Ben's bruises/cuts before he got on the plane. (6:1) - $12 142 - 24 (active bets) = 118 available this week -- This formula should work for everybody: where BM = $78 (Base Money), W = Winnings, A = Active Bets: Available money = (BM + W) - A Pinata242 is correct: (78 + 292) - 6 = $364 available this week outcastja should be: (78 + 489) - 22 = $545 available this week Damfino (78 + 64) - 24 = $118 available this week. |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
My Previous Bets:
Spoiler:
Total: $224 {027} Juliet makes her default wide-eyed perma-smirk face.* (5:1) $29 {028} No new characters (with speaking lines) are shown. We've seen every speaking character in this episode before. (7:1) $70 {029} Sayid is shown building/repairing/fixing something. (14:1) $100 {030} Sayid kills a "named" character (not a red-shirt or new-to-that-episode) character. (20:1) $25 |

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
I knew this was going to be too complicated for me. Let's see..
I had $75 winnings from the first week. $5 - {002} A gun or firearm is fired. (3:1) $2 - {004} A dead character has a scene.* (9:1) $7 - {007} John Locke is referred to by someone as Jeremy Bentham (or Jeremy or Mr. Bentham). (5:1) $10 - {009} At least three of the Oceanic Six make it back to the island. (4:1) Those were my bets, which ones were the one that paid? 009 and what else? For the second week my bets were: {011} A Dharma logo is never shown during the episode. $10 {014} Two or less major characters are shown before the "Lost" title sequence begins. $5 {015} John Locke's off-island "death" is shown to be a ruse. $10 {020} An entire episode passes without Sawyer calling someone by a nickname. $50 At least have $500 with the last one :D, I don't remember about the others... :( So I basically don't have any idea on how to proceed now... :p |
Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Just follow the examples of tracking your winnings we all have posted. Any of them will work for you.
Bus has given you $78. Add your winnings to that. Subtract the amount you bet that haven't come true yet. |

(6:1) $50 {024} Someone gets knocked out. (4:1) $100 {025} All scenes in an episode are on the island. (3:1) $100 {027} Juliet makes her default wide-eyed perma-smirk face. Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Ok... I worked out probably the ugliest looking spreadsheet any of you have ever seen in Google docs. I don't vouch for the accuracy, but it may give some of you a sense on how your doing and how much money you have to play with.
If you get a chance, look at your numbers and let me know if you see any errors. I'm not good at this stuff at all. Alright... I tweaked it a bit.. Your score at this point should show how much money you have to play with this week before counting this week's seed money. The way I figured the score was (total winnings - amount bet + total seed money for first 2 weeks). Everybody got $48 as seed money, except for Bus, Kevinlord, kakihara1, and buzzdalf who only bet one week. Does this make sense? http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...8aPuDsaVfczHOA |
