I'm not 100% certain about this, but I think FOX won't re-air this until January before season 7 premieres.

You have 3 options:
1) Wait until January for this and season 7
2) Rent the DVD on Tuesday
3) Check FOX's web site or Hulu.com and see if this is streaming (highly unlikely since they want to sell the DVD's)

I liked it. Anyone notice the goof when a camera guy and a photographer were clearly in a shot when Jack and company were taking cover from the chopper (about 90 minutes in)? Perhaps more noticeable in HD?

I have a hankering to purchase some Cisco products.

It was a refreshing change of pace to have a non-urban, non-U.S. setting for Jack to play in. Plus the smaller scale action really worked, as opposed to the major catastophes they've made the seasons about.

It's just occurred to me there have been 8 active presidents during the course of this show, although the S1 president was never shown, and the Ray Wise character (Logan's VP) is a between-seasons assumption. I suppose you could even say 9 if you count David Palmer's VP, who served as acting president for a brief while.

guess these reviewers didn't know what they were talking about
I thought this was more plot/story heavy.. the action (and the kick ass Jack) was very minimal

not saying that it is a bad thing... I enjoyed Redemption and hopefully it is a start toward redeeming some of the icky taste of day 6

Patman 11-23-08 11:12 PM

Mmm... Carly Pope.

Jim Patterson 11-23-08 11:16 PM

I got a feeling they put this movie in with the season 7 dvd set.

Mok 11-23-08 11:30 PM

After watching this I want to play Far Cry 2.

Charlie Goose 11-23-08 11:32 PM

Let's see:

The Mummy
RoboCop
Jigsaw
Farmer Hoggett

and now The Candyman.

They are releasing it on Tuesday already. I could see an store exclusive with the movie packed in but not the normal season release.

as the put out a dvd for the season premier (first 4 episodes) of season 6 but they didn't leave these off the season 6 set ;)

Tuesday's release is nothing more than a marketing tool and is also aimed at diehards who want to own everything instantly

I don't see why the same content wouldn't be included later on not that I care either way

Thought it was better than season 6, but I was mistakenly under the impression that this was going to primarilty be a stand alone and not a set up for season 7. Like Robert Carlyle enough to be disappointed to see him go, but it was obvious from early on that he had to die in order for Jack to be captured.

As for the season preview...looks pretty good, but
Spoiler:
I'm reminded of the reason why I stopped watching 24 previews. Not sure if I'm thrilled to see Carlos Bernard return as a villian. Hopefully that is a swerve that goes the other way as the season progresses.

With Kurtwood Smith's role next year their aren't many live principal actors from Robocop left for them to get. I guess that leaves Nancy Allen, Ronny Cox, Felton Perry, and Miguel Ferrer.

Patman 11-24-08 12:24 AM

It's a standalone in that it gets Jack back into the US after doing his best to become an ex-patriate. It'd be tough to do this type of episode at the start of the 7th season within the 24-hour real time framework. Of course, they should have called this film simply "2".

Doughboy 11-24-08 01:22 AM

Not a bad 2-part episode. It managed to offer closure for two of the few bright spots in Season 6(Noah Daniels and Tom Lennox) while setting up Season 7. I guess the writers thought so little of Wayne Palmer, they didn't even bother mentioning what happened to him.

DJariya 11-24-08 03:38 AM

Very solid 2 hours of 24 tonight. I thought it was one of Howard Gordon's best scripts since he took over as showrunner without the interference of Joel Surnow. He kept the story to a much smaller scale and humanized Jack to where he once was back in season 1.

I actually really liked how it set it up season 7 introducing Jon Voight's character (Hodges) and President Taylor. If it wasn't for the writer's strike, this movie would have never seen made, so I'm glad we got some closure to a few lingering elements from season 6.

I could sense from the editing of these episodes where a few scenes could have been fleshed out a little. I think for the most part we got the meat and potatoes of 24: Redemption, but I am looking forward to seeing what was cut out in the Director's Cut.

I have to agree that this film was more plot/story-driven and much more realistic compared to alot of the over the top nonsense from season 6.

I know Cherry Jones is primarily known as a Broadway actress and I was really impressed with her even though her screentime was somewhat limited. She has a good onscreen presence and is a huge relief compared to DB Woodside. I liked her speech at the end, while Jack was being handcuffed and escorted onto the chopper.

One funny thing that I noticed. In the trailer, Jack screamed "Open the Gate!" to Gil Bellows, but I don't think we saw that in the movie.

As for the action, not alot but good enough. The shootout at the school was good and Jack taking out several rebels on the way to the Embassy was cool.

Anyone get a Bauer Body count? And hell yeah, the Jack-Pack (or Man Purse) is Back!!

Man that was friggin awesome ! I could see the ending a mile away with Jack forced to surrender himself, but the set up was nice.

Boy this show in terms of production value and performances really is a notch above most other shows.

Not really feeling this new female president

I wouldn't want to either. She's too old for my taste.

Cartload 11-24-08 05:57 AM

I loved the dedicated Carly cam on the split screen shots when the president's son was chatting on the phone with his drug addict buddy.

Michael Corvin 11-24-08 07:52 AM

Wow, only two pages? I thought this thread would be epic this morning. Personally I won't have a chance to watch until tonight.

JuryDuty 11-24-08 08:07 AM

I thought this 2 hour episode was great! The plot appeared more solid than about anything from last season and they didn't force themselves to bring back a bunch of characters that didn't need to be in it. Pretty good stuff.

It was in there. My wife, who wasn't watching it but was in the room, asked me if it was the first time he had screamed during the movie. I told her that he hadn't interrogated/tortured anyone yet, so probably not.

I'm so pissed off at FOX (or whoever responsible) for closed caption problem. It seems that only FOX shows (including Simpsons, Kitchen Nightmare, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) that showed closed caption pop up just second after the character spoken. It's really hard to follow the show. I was looking forward to watch 24: Redemption and I'm disappointed with what happened.
