It's fifteen minutes longer and it has almost the first half of Hour One from Season 7. The only plus about watching it tonight would be the fact it's HD.

I've already waited 18 months for a new episode, I can wait another two days for the DVD. Or should I just watch it tonight?

It's only 16 minutes of episode 1 on the DVD.

I would definitely watch it tonight. At least you will something to compare the DVD to and there is nothing like the experience of watching 24 in Real Time unless you fast forward through all the commercials of course!

This is the same situation as me, I stopped midway through S6. Hopefully this will deliver.

Snowmaker 11-23-08 06:44 PM

Well, my HDTV is on the fritz (until tomorrow) but I'm still watching tonight. No way I'm paying $15.99 for a DVD of it.

MrX 11-23-08 07:06 PM

Did these guys learn English from watching "Scarface"? "cock-a-roach"

CaptainMarvel 11-23-08 07:33 PM

Well, fuck. Apparently my season pass to 24 doesn't apply to this, so I missed the first 30 minutes. >:(

Robert 11-23-08 07:34 PM

This whole "African warlord" plot has been done better in Blood Diamond and Lord of War;)

stingermck 11-23-08 07:40 PM

Ah its good to see Jack shoot people again

kstublen 11-23-08 07:46 PM

I love Jack Bauer.

He got caught a little too easy though; although I guess he was out of bullets so he had no choice but to try and beat the crap out of them until he could get a gun. Plus, there really were a lot of them swarming him.

So far so good; although if they only knew what a futile attempt torturing Jack Bauer is, perhaps they'd have reconsidered keeping him alive.

stingermck 11-23-08 07:53 PM

Jack Bauer via neck snap leg submission. Awesome

dadaluholla 11-23-08 07:54 PM

Well, I lasted about a half hour, then hit the dvd shelf to find something better to watch. I guess I'm done with 24 for good.

Jadzia 11-23-08 07:55 PM

Totally forgot to set the DVR for this. Does anyone know if it will be replayed?

kstublen 11-23-08 07:55 PM

That sucks, getting your neck snapped by a man's legs while he is tied up. What a loser. Jack Bauer is the man.

Also, am I the only one that didn't realize this was going to be in real-time?

And I think one thing is pretty obviously going to happen:

Spoiler:
Jack Bauer is going to make a deal with that Embassy guy that if he lets the kids in, Jack will go back to the United States.

Anyone else agree with that?

EDIT:

Really? After 30 minutes of setting the stage, you are willing to throw in the towel? Come on, it's decent thus far and it honestly seems to be warming up.

StephenX 11-23-08 08:09 PM

First hour: So far, so good.

The Benjamin Button trailer was frickin' fantastic.

Robert 11-23-08 08:41 PM

Anyone else experiencing audio drop-outs?

kstublen 11-23-08 08:48 PM

Nope.

firteen88 11-23-08 08:54 PM

Not too bad. Gets me excited for season 7

stingermck 11-23-08 09:00 PM

I liked it, and the season 7 trailer looked GREAT!

kstublen 11-23-08 09:01 PM

Yep. I think this was the perfect vehicle to get people back in the swing of things and ready for the new season in January. I cannot wait for Tuesday so I can see the extended version and the first 17 minutes of Season 7.

I'll spoiler this since some people may not have seen it yet:

Spoiler:
I was said to see Robert Carlyle have such a short appearance in 24. I think he is a great actor and I wish we could've seen more of him and Jack taking out bad guys together. Oh well. Loved him making everyone come in close before he killed 'em.

mhg83 11-23-08 09:06 PM

That was pretty good. Maybe now the writers realize they can do a 24 without a nuke threat or virus and have it be engaging.

Although i was disappointed in Jack not killing that kid :(

Snowmaker 11-23-08 09:09 PM

Who was the guy at the embassy that subpoenaed Jack? I've seen him before.

Septemberbaby 11-23-08 09:10 PM

Loved a line that Jack says in the previews:

Spoiler:
Jack to Tony: "I'm going to kill you and this time I'll make sure you stay dead." :) Ahh.. Jack!

Redemption was SOOOO MUCH better than about 18 Season 6 episodes. It was a much better all-around episode, and they definitely have a lot more storylines that are actually interesting set up for Season 7. Those quick shots of Bill and Chloe furthered my belief that this next season should be fantastic. It's amazing how good this show can be without some kind of nuclear-device being in play.

And for once in a long time, the show stayed a lot more grounded in reality than last season. Of course, Jack is going to be a one-man army, but at least it remained realistic. Good to see Jack isn't completely dead inside yet, either.

Im excited for January 11, I forgot how much I miss this show. I really wanna watch Season 1 or 5 again...best seasons in my opinion.

I just came back to say never mind, I found him, but thanks.

I forgot all about Ally McBeal.
