Good news on the DVD front in case anyone was wondering. The DVD includes BOTH the Broadcast Version and the Extended Version. I wasn't sure if it was going to or not, but it does.

Standard Version:
Disc 1: Broadcast Version
Disc 2: Special Features + Extended Version

Best Buy released a Three-Disc Version:
Disc 1: Broadcast Version
Disc 2: Special Features* + Extended Version
Disc 3: Digital Copy

*Best Buy lists Bonus Special Features as "24 Minutes of Exclusive Featurettes" and "Save Yourself Music Video by Rocco DeLuca"

CKMorpheus 11-25-08 12:52 PM

Wonder what's "extended" about it.

I believe the running time ran almost 100 minutes after it was shot. Jon Cassar had to chop it down to fit the allotted time for a 2 hour broadcast (roughly 88 minutes without commercials)

Seriously, they had her do nothing but bitch and whine throughout the entire show. good way to introduce a character.. Cant wait until she is killed.

Spoiler:
I think the girlfriend may be a plant by the bad guys. A spy to keep an eye on the kid in case he gets any inkling about the illegal shennanigans going on in the white house, which he did from his best friend who was supposed to destroy the files. She kept harping on him, "What did he want? What did he want to see you about?, etc." like she's was trying to find out how much the friend may have told him.

Wow can't wait for the extended version !
pardon my ignorance, but what does 'Digital copy' mean on the 3 Disc version ?

There is a 3rd disk that most often time either contains a video file for your computer or a link and a code to redeem and download it from a server (like iTunes).

My copies of The Incredible Hulk and Jumper had the iTunes versions.

Since season 6 and that gratuitous giant video conference room in the White House, Cisco has practically been a guest star on 24.

I agree. She and her entire family are not making me anticipate the usual political shenanigans in season 7. Cherry Jones is no Gregory Itzin.

As well, I'm VERY disappointed Powers Boothe and Peter MacNichol apparently won't be returning to the series. Until Redemption I thought the Daniels administration would be running the country. :(

Overall, this was a nice dose of 24 to get fans ready for the next season but unfortunately, nothing more than that.

Jack Bauer is still God.

Would this be the special that aired on Fox multiple times before the show or something else?

Thats what I was thinking, and she got mad when she found out he had a secret and did not tell her.

Well it is 2017 in the 24 timeline now, so who knows? Of course that also makes Jack in his 50s.

Have they ever mentioned the year though? IMO they haven't really done a great job of showing the years pass, aside from having a new president after every commercial break.

I still think the Daniels and possibly MacNichol will be back...something was obviously started during their administration, so its a possibility.

I could care less about the new Prez, as long as it isn't Palmer #2...that was sad.

Spoiler:
Daniels may be involved with the illegal arms being sold to the African general villain. The new president thought it fishy that he wouldn't intervene in the pending genocide of the coup and asked her husband to see what he could find out as to why Daniels took that position

Daniels may be in the entire season. It's possible.

Yeah, that is what I was alluding to. I hope so, some of the CAST last season was great, just a crappy story....here's hoping.

DJariya 11-30-08 10:28 PM

I don't know why everyone is already down on the new President.

I think Cherry Jones will do a fine job over the course of 24 episodes. I've read that she's openly Lesbian and is dating Sarah Paulson, who was on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip 2 years ago.

24 Redemption 3rd Eye

Right I watched this on TV and could not believe my eyes as its something i have never seen in a film or program b4. Near the end when the kids are rushed into the trees the camera angle shows to other camera men in the shot and its not for just a split second its more like 1-2 seconds. How weird is that you would have thought it was picked up on editing.

musick 12-04-08 06:59 PM

picked up a copy of this at the library today and got to watch the first 17 minutes of season 7 ..... good stuff

Original Desmond 12-13-08 05:04 AM

yeah the 17 mins preview got me superpumped

gonna be a good season !

areacode212 12-13-08 09:45 AM

They're definitely trying to make us think that the annoying girlfriend is either just a needy overbearing chick, or evil and working for the bad guys. But don't forget what show you're watching--she could turn out to be a CTU agent assigned to keep an eye on the son, who's working for the uber bad guy behind the scenes who hasn't been revealed yet....or some bullshit like that.

Double secret reverse Mole!

CKMorpheus 12-13-08 01:40 PM

So anyone who's seen the DVD, can anyone detail the additional footage?

frenchy 12-22-08 12:17 AM

I know, this is extremely late to bring up, but I had Redemption sitting around on the DVR and finally watched it today.

Not really important to the story, but I got to thinking about something. We learned that Tayler beat Daniels in an election, so would that make her a Republican? If I remember correctly, Daniels was Wayne Palmer's Vice President, and the Palmers were Democrats. I just have this lingering recollection of Daniels having some other title in the past, Speaker of the House or something, maybe I'm thinking of somebody else.

Also, I've seen the Season Seven trailer a few times now, and unless I blinked and missed it, we haven't seen any glimpses of

Spoiler:
Janeane Garofalo

I wonder why.

Good question. I hadn't noticed that myself. Probably because all the trailers are either centered on Jack and the action. I thought she was going to be the equivalent of a CTU desk jockey..? We haven't seen much of Chloe or Morris either, both of whom make a return.

David Palmer was confirmed to be a Democrat in what was almost a throwaway line in Season 1. So it stands to reason that David Palmer, Wayne Palmer, and Noah Daniels are all Dems, while John Keeler, Charles Logan, and Allison Taylor are all Republicans.

Of course, 24 has never been very accurate with political parties. Keeler had the endorsement of the AFL-CIO in Season 3, Logan was shown to be hesitant to engage in torture without consulting the Attorney General first, and David Palmer would sanction just about anything including Ryan Chappelle's death in order to help CTU.

frenchy 12-23-08 03:59 PM

Thank you. I know it's about as irrelevant as what year it is in the 24 universe, but I was curious.
