I was thinking about why they stayed with the primitive culture, and I believe it has to do with Obi-Wan learning from Qui-Gon. Remember in TPM when OWK tries to rush QGQ out of Otoh Gunga, but Qui is just going with the flow. Obi is probably trying to learn this too and teaching it to Anakin.

Okay, finally sat down and watched this. One question that came to mind was why bother abducting Palpatine? I don't get it. Are they going to start the movie with a rescue mission for him? It just seemed like a weird plot idea to me.

kidnapping Palpatine sets of a showdown, it lets Anakin be tested. It allows him to see how much Anakin has progressed and it would probably also make some of the senate sympathetic towards him.

no matter what happens Palpatine still wins, so he's got no reason not to go for it

The movie does indeed start with the rescue mission and as said above it is to test Anakin and tempt him to the dark side further.

He turns evil and then falls in the lava. He's Darth Vader before he's in the life support suit.

I didn’t see this mentioned before, but in the hieroglyphics scene, the very last frame of the wall painting, the lines all morph into Darth Vader's mask. Maybe it was really obvious so people didn’t mention it. Or maybe people truly didn’t catch. I'm going with the former.

Strike that. Reverse it. Thank you.

I just finished reading the novelization and it is pretty damn good. There's a fantastic chapter with Palpatine/Anakin where Anakin is asked "What do you want?"... I'm not sure how much of this will end up in the film (these movies aren't known for 20-minute dialog segments ), but it is really well done.

You can really understand Anakin's choices and while you may not agree with them, you can see where he's coming from and how things really aren't as black and white/good and evil as you thought they'd be.

I felt the same way about AOtC when I recently read some of the stuff that was cut out. Shame, really..

A few questions:

1. Does the clone wars take place over 3 years?

2. I don't recall but doesn't chapter 21 start where chapter 20 ends the battle with Grievious? Thus chapter 20-25 take place very soon before ROTS?

3. I've read that chapter 1 battle took place 4-5 months after the end of AOTC, would anyone have or be able to point to a timeline of when the battles were supposed to be during the war?

Thanks.

The Volume 1 DVD extra features discuss this question (actually, they seem to spend more time discussing Volume 2 episodes!). Volume 2 leads directly into Episode 3. One of the animators was wishful thinking that the last few chapters of Clone Wars be played at the theater right before the next movie.

I'm curious as well as I was out of town and forgot to set my Tivo.

Is there anywhere to see them on the net for free?

Thanks, I misread there the last time I checked. I thought you had to be a hyperspace member even to watch the small ones.

Just watched all five of them. Can't wait until the 19th!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- Season 1

Saw the preview this weekend on CN and it does look better than the the movie, a couple of reviews say the same thing:

So will I. My son loved the movie. Even bought him that sweet Clone Trooper helmet from Target in anticipation.

So is this different from the movie or is it the movie broken up?

Is this also going to re-air on TNT? My cable service doesn't provide Cartoon Network in HD.

So does this mean that episodes 1-4 (ie the movie) will not be shown on tv?

You'd think they'd have at least waited until the DVD comes out so those of use who didn't waste our money at the theater could get caught up.
