yeah even though this ep started off a little slowly... by the time it hit the jack/hurley scene things took off admirably, imo.

not a bad episode at all

i give it a 6.5/10

looking forward to next week

Question:

Where does Hurley's visit to Korea fit in the future timeline? Before or after his clinic stay?

i think they're basing this one the line from Jack to Kate - something along the lines of "you're not even related to him!"

I'd just like to take a moment to give some props to Matthew Fox. I don't think this man gets enough credit for his work on this show...I don't know what he has been through in his personal life, but he is INCREDIBLY connected to the extremely difficult situations the writers keep throwing his way.

His reaction to seeing his dad at the hospital was stunning...my best friend died a few years ago and his name recently showed up as a "missed call" on my cell phone...Fox brought me right back to the confusion and elation and sadness of that moment.

I always look forward to a Jack flash forward/back because I know Fox will bring some real gravitas to the table and this episode was no exception. I love LOST!

Also, a quote from tonight's episode of Jimmy Kimmel, in which Damon, Carlton, and Terrence Howard were the guests:

HOWARD: There has to be two black people on the show at any given time.
KIMMEL: Well, there's Rose...
LINDELOF: ...and Harold [Perrineau]'s back on the show now.
KIMMEL: I should point out that the smoke monster's black, also.

Concur. And Fox is one of my favourite actors on the show. His performances in this episode and Through The Looking Glass along with the Season 3 premiere were fantastic.

maybe it's not him (can't find proof yet) but to my ears it really sounds like him. Regardless of if it is, I don't think anyone can deny that he's a helluva lot more important than we all thought way back during Season 1.

Absolutely. Jack is just pointing out what Kate seems to have forgot. It all ties in with Hurley telling Jack they are really dead and then asking him if things seem too pefect now. Jack is just pointing out how easily Kate seems fine to live a fake life.

I think it's safe to say that the visit happened before. Sun just had her baby. Hurley could have started loosing it again not to long after getting back from his visit to see her.

Well she was a murderous fugitive on the lam. She's always been content living a fake life. Almost got married under a fake name as well. Sounds like Kate is being Kate to me. Jack just never knew the off-island Kate before.

True, but his statement doesn't mean he knows Claire is his sister as some are drawing conclusions to. I believe that finidng out the truth about Claire is what will get Jack to suicidal state during TTLG.

Thinking about it, during this episode Jack got sick while Claire vanished. I'm thinking the island is doing everything to stop Jack from leaving. If he does leave, the island has a way to get him back by keeping Claire hidden.

John Terry's page on Lostpedia confirms that it's not him:

"Is often mistakenly assumed to do the announcer's voice ("Previously on Lost...") at the beginning of the show. Lloyd Braun was the original announcer but has since been replaced by the voice of Carlton Cuse."

Is there a reason why they can't just use a sound bite that says "Previously on Lost" rather than hiring somebody else? Is there some kind of legal thing that prevents them from doing this?

I thought maybe there was some significance to the other doctor saying "Thanks for keeping us safe," when he had actually disabled something that is supposed to keep them safe.

Interview with Matthew Fox (about the end of this season):

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news08/foxy.php

Spoiler:

Question: With TV shows usually the way that it works as an actor, it's an open ended storyline where you're going forward and just discovering what's happening as you go. With Lost, obviously that's all changed not only because of the flash forwards, but because it has an end date now. Does that change the way that you're approaching your work on the show?

Fox: Not really. Not that much. No. You know we're going to catch up with the flash forwards here in this year and then we'll be back and it's going to be really interesting to see how time is structured in season five. But we will have closed those two points - the finale of last year where you had that juxtaposition of him on the island feeling like he'd finally accomplished rescue and this future where he's desperate and at the pit of despair and feels like he has to go back and we don't know why and what's transpired in between. We will have closed that thing and so we will have gotten back into a situation where we'll be in the present.

Question: How much gets resolved in the finale?

Fox: Huge, huge stuff. We're shooting pretty much three episodes that are...it's really like a three-episode finale that we're shooting simultaneously. It's huge.

Question: Are there going to be more questions answered?

Fox: There will be huge things answered. Yes.
