yeah even though this ep started off a little slowly... by the time it hit the jack/hurley scene things took off admirably, imo.
not a bad episode at all
i give it a 6.5/10
looking forward to next week

I'd just like to take a moment to give some props to Matthew Fox. I don't think this man gets enough credit for his work on this show...I don't know what he has been through in his personal life, but he is INCREDIBLY connected to the extremely difficult situations the writers keep throwing his way.
His reaction to seeing his dad at the hospital was stunning...my best friend died a few years ago and his name recently showed up as a "missed call" on my cell phone...Fox brought me right back to the confusion and elation and sadness of that moment.
I always look forward to a Jack flash forward/back because I know Fox will bring some real gravitas to the table and this episode was no exception. I love LOST!

Also, a quote from tonight's episode of Jimmy Kimmel, in which Damon, Carlton, and Terrence Howard were the guests:
HOWARD: There has to be two black people on the show at any given time.
KIMMEL: Well, there's Rose...
LINDELOF: ...and Harold [Perrineau]'s back on the show now.
KIMMEL: I should point out that the smoke monster's black, also.

I think it's safe to say that the visit happened before. Sun just had her baby. Hurley could have started loosing it again not to long after getting back from his visit to see her.

Thinking about it, during this episode Jack got sick while Claire vanished. I'm thinking the island is doing everything to stop Jack from leaving. If he does leave, the island has a way to get him back by keeping Claire hidden.

Is there a reason why they can't just use a sound bite that says "Previously on Lost" rather than hiring somebody else? Is there some kind of legal thing that prevents them from doing this?
