That was the guy that helped Ben's parents out when she was in labor and then brought them to the island, no?

That's what I remembered. I don't think he's Jacob.

So did Miles actually see Christian Shepherd? I suppose it would make sense, since he can apparently hear the dead - maybe he can see them too.

Pretty disappointed that Smokey didn't kill those mercenaries.

The writer's strike took its toll on this one - poorly paced, I thought. But hey, it looks like we'll be getting the Zombie season after all.

I think there's a pretty good chance he did. For some reason I see Miles having a lot bigger purpose than just the filler parts right now.

Maybe Smokey not killing the mercenaries is part of the rules?

But wtf at the preview for next week!
I agree, some parts of the show can make your hairs stand up a bit. Like someone else said, this ep had a vintage Lost feel to it, with it being kinda of eerie and the acting was pretty on point. Jack commencing his downward spiral was performed well by Fox, and his jealousy was subtle but silently aggressive.

Oh, and Kate kind of made my pants tighter

I think in her short flashback, it sort of indicated that she was a world traveler/explorer/treasure hunter type, didn't it? Maybe that's their reasoning, I dunno.

So what purpose, in terms of plot device, did Jack's surgery have? I don't think the Juliet/Kate chat was that significant. Maybe Jack didn't survive the surgery after all?

Funny how the psychic's "reading" of Claire way back early on in season 1 is now coming to fruition. So why is it so important that Claire (or just NOT Jack) raise Aaron? Obviously that's one of the big questions of the series, I think.

If Jack didn't make it, he wouldn't have been one of the Oceanic 6 and have flash forward episodes.

Yeah, I remember that. Still gotta be a specific reason they hired someone who could speak Korean.

What about this Kate thing? Maybe Sawyer left Kate money for the kid?

Or perhaps Kate and Sawyer finally connected that the woman that helped Kate when she was on the run was the same woman that has Sawyer's child. Kate may have been sent to talk to her.

Maybe to show the island doesn't want him to leave, the same way it took Locke's legs out from under him, causing Boone to climb the hill and die instead?

I think it's more of the bad influence Kate is to Aaron than Jack. She does wind up with him at the end of the S3 finale, and she's proven to be pure trouble to most around her.

Frickin' KMBC in Kansas City pre-empted it for stupid ass weather coverage.

This is still showing on their website at this hour:
KMBC is checking with the ABC and CW networks on whether we can rebroadcast shows that were interrupted by severe weather coverage Thursday night. When we have any details, we will announce the information on KMBC-TV and on KMBC.com. You can also watch full episodes on ABC.com.
I am really getting sick of TV stations interrupting shows and telling the viewers to watch the crap online. If I wanted to watch it online, I wouldn't be turning on the TV. It's just not the same watching it on line. It's annoying, actually.

GEORGE IS GETTING MAD HERE!

So...I wonder if something has happened to Claire. She said she wasn't feeling well, had a headache. Could she have (guess-->)
Spoiler:
had a brain aneurysm or something and was dying, which is why she saw her father?

Obviously the guy in the preview meant "According to the government, I've been dead for 12 years." That's how previews work.

Seems that Jack fnds out Claire is his half sister, judging by that argument with Kate where he says "you're not even related to him!" Of course the writers could have just thrown that in there, but I think it means something.
