Debunked by us in the seven or so threads its showed up in.

Not to mention many other sites.

But as Whotony said, it's in conflict with general knowledge anyway.

I'm not getting it yet another discussion of this theory, it's been done several times here already.

Well aren't we above everyone else?

The only threads I've missed were the first four this season. I haven't seen it in any other thread since the show began. Seven may be stretching it.

You misunderstand Mike. I don't think that. I just don't see the purpose in repeating a discussion that's been made already. Anyone who wishes to get caught up can easily find the threads. Or if they have a new argument that hasn't been mentioned, I'd be very interested in reading it.

Fair enough. I got the wrong impression.

This is all in good fun anyway, since we have a few weeks for a new episode.

Then allow me to supplement the discussion with something different.

Wondering what happened to the four toed statute? Well the producers have an answer for you - ABC thought it was "too weird".

That's right.

At the annual Paley Festival being held in Hollywood, CA, Lindelof explains that after ABC saw the episode with the statue, they got a note back from ABC execs saying that they thought it was "too weird." They actually wanted them to change the statue from being four-toed to being six-toed. And yes, like the rest of us, Lindelof has no idea why a six-toed statue is less weird than one with four toes.

"That's actually a great story," Damon responds. "We did the four-toed statue on the show and basically we got a note back from the network, which was, 'This is too weird.' We're like, 'Do you watch the show? This is too weird?' And essentially they said, 'Could it be a six-toed statue?' If someone could explain why a six-toed statue is less weird than a four-toed statue, that's exactly what we will do."

Has it ever been explained why the Others went around wearing costumes and fake beards in their early encounters with the crash survivors?

That's hysterical. I love the comment "do you watch the show?" Of all the things on this show, this is what gets called out as "weird"?? Too funny.

No, there's quite a few things that have been completely ignored lately. When is the last time we heard anything about Hurley's numbers? In prior seasons, you couldn't blink your eyes without potentially missing some obscure reference to the numbers. Now, I can't even remember the last time it's come up.

Same reason they faked the camp in Season 2 near the cliffs. They wanted the Losties to think they were weak hillbillies.

The Statue connection is supposed to be explained eventually by learning more about the island. Same with the Black Rock. I don't think they'll need to show the statue again though. Hurley's numbers are supposed to come up as a big issue again fairly soon, I believe.

BTW, I'm going to make a prediction.

They stated at the last Comic Con that we would be seeing the Orchid station this season. The "Temple" had a Dharma logo on Ben's map. I think the Temple is the Orchid, which might be the last station, and the most important given the experiments that seemed to be going on there.

The numbers are seen quite a bit actually. In The Constant, Faraday's equation included 2.342 while the Black Rock painting was lot #2342.

The characters haven't referenced them in a while however...

I've seen Blake Bashoff in Spring Awakening and he's amazing. Much better on stage than he was on LOST, in my opinion. If you're a fan of his and in NYC, definitely check this out (I think he leaves the production in May). You can also see him singing on YouTube. Sad to see him leave LOST though...Rousseau better be back.

I thought that already happened when Miles was at the old lady's house.
I'm still withholding judgement though.

Yep. They're still there. Just not all of them at once. Every time a number pops up it's usually a combination of them in some way.

Hey Matt where did you hear this? The last I heard, the producers said the Valenzetti video ended the numbers, and they weren't coming back (except in instances like CS mentioned and similarly).

It is. It really is. All this fuss over a stupid baby.

We should be debating more important stuff, like the giant green hawk that screeched "Huuuuurrrley!!!!" in the season 2 finale.
