Wow--just ran across this site. Pretty good theory here--and very well thought-out. I don't agree with all of it, but it's pretty substantive...

I think there's something to the whole Daniel Faraday-Faraday Cage. One of the Freighter crew is capable of speaking with the dead, maybe Faraday is the electro magnetic shield that was thought to be needed to safely land on the island. Unlike the other Oceanic 815. The original historical Micheal Faraday was also a physicist, like Daniel.
|
Rewatching the episode again, I believe Daniel Faraday has a gift for empathy. Call it "mind-reading" or whatever, but he can FEEL the emotions and/or thinking of people.
That's why the moment he met Jack for the first time, he knew his name. That's why he was crying when the "wreckage" for 815 was found and he didn't even know why he was sad. Other people also call him things like "head case" and "genius." |
Taken from Michael Faraday at Wikipedia- He established that magnetism could affect rays of light and that there was an underlying relationship between the two phenomena.
Remember how he referred to the way the light looked on the island. Also.... Faraday was the first to report what later came to be called metallic nanoparticles. In 1847 he discovered that the optical properties of gold colloids differed from those of the corresponding bulk metal. This was probably the first reported observation of the effects of quantum size, and might be considered to be the birth of nanoscience. |
When Locke said, "Yeah James, let's execute him... in front of his daughter..."
Rousseau should have punched Locke and said, "She's not his daughter." :) |
Jack pulled a "Mr. Friendly" when he made the threat about the guns pointed at the Freighter People's heads. :)

http://www.timelooptheory.com/the_timeline.htm Just way too convoluted I think. While I don't think the answers to the island's mysteries will be simple, I think they will simpler than that. But the first part about how the Black Rock got so far inland actually makes a lot of sense, I hadn't really thought it could have been carrying some metallic items that allowed the island to "pull" it in. |
Don't read the site below unless you want LOST to be ruined for you
I went to that site, and read the "theory" - it has to be written by someone who is in the know - now I feel cheated. It is more than a theory, it has to be the answers to everything, the plot, the island -the whole thing - it is very cool - but now the whole "mystery" of LOST has been runied for me. Do yourself a favor - don't go to that site - there is no way someone could come up with that site with the details it provides without having inside knowledge - I am seriously pissed for having gone it to it.

The people on the Island know that too. Locke has seen the printouts of the computer logs. Would he say "whoa, we are in the future?" when he saw them? 2) How would you explain Ben having the World Series footage from 2004? He couldn't, and it wouldn't make sense to Jack either. 3) The man in the box cannot be Sawyer under his theory. His theory is that they all know the date of their deaths - 9/22/2004. But Sawyer dies before that? It's contradictory. There's others too. It's a very good and fun theory to read, but I wouldn't take it as anymore than fan fiction. |

We already know that Ben has contact with the outside world, so why couldn't he have footage of the '04 world series? Regardless of the time loop, Ben would most likely be keeping up with the real time line and the current events that occur in it. 3. I completely agree with that one. If Sawyer gets to leave, he shouldn't die until the rest of the Oceanic Six did. If the theory holds any water, it would have to be someone else. |
I agree -- that's a terrific LOST tapestry this guy has woven but there are too many inconsistencies for me to buy it as the complete story. Still, I suspect that after all is revealed we'll find that there's a large kernel of truth in what he has written here.
Like someone else said, if this isn't the real LOST story, kudos to the writer; he's really thought this through. |
What I want to know is where the iron on the Black Rock went to. I'm thinking if the forces were that strong and it was a load of iron, it would have been ripped right out of the hull.

Another thing is that Jack's flash-forward gave us clues (such as the model of his cell phone) as to the fact that it was taking place post-2004, not pre-2004. It's really a great fan-made theory though.
I listened to an interview with Michael Emerson the other day. He said he didn't know what the ultimate answers are going to be but he did say that he believes it's all part of one "system". So my theory is that it's all about the Dharma initiative. The more we know about it, the more questions will be answered. My theory is that they are covering up the plane crash because they don't want the real world to stumble upon the island. As far as the rescue squad, we know that at least two of them stumbled upon something that would expose dharma (Jeff fahey and his recognition of the pilot's ring, Charlotte and her stumbling upon the polar bear). Maybe Dharma has control of nature and used it to crash land the chopper and get rid of the 4 "rescuers"? I know we won't solve anything until the last episode but theories make this show so much fun. Another thing that disappointed me to hear from Michael Emerson...He doesn't believe we'll get any more episodes for this season. He said it would take 2 months before they could even start filming and that ABC probably will want a full 24 episode season starting in the fall. It's possible they could do an 8 episode run in the summer and then the 16 episodes starting next january. but he seemed pretty adamant that there would only be 8 episodes this run. I've heard a few interviews with him in the past and he seems to know the most out of anyone else I've heard. |
i wasn't expecting any more in the spring after this run.
I always expected them to get the rest of this season in the fall, then start up next season in january 2009. ABC will want as many episodes as it can get. They can't justify a high DVD price on an 8 episode DVD. |

I finally watched the episode and I have to say it was great. The season opener plodded along, but this second episode was back to top form.
