Not only are the frames different, some of the pictures are as well.

So, is this just a bad continuity error or does it mean something?

The time travel idea will go over the heads of 99% of the audience, probably me included. Look at how many people were confused by Back to the Future II, even with Doc Brown breaking it all down on a chalkboard!

Wow, that linked theory with its own FAQ, Rebuttals, and supporting ideas is pretty damn good.

I just expect the ending to Neon Genesis: Evangelion all over again.
For those that don't know, it's an anime series from around 1995 that aired in Japan. It was a mix of introverted personalities, religious beliefs, the apocalypse, government politics, and, of course, giant robots. The series builds to a climax, but never shows it, instead it opted to have the final two episodes essentially take place in the main character's head (open to interpretation.) (Caused a huge uproar when it aired, they wound up making a movie to "clarify" it all.) I can see it now, the last few episodes taking place in Jack's head. Ah, that'd turn out great. (Of course, it wouldn't really work, since Jack isn't exactly the "main character" at this point.) |

The show balances off of him since he's the leader of the pact - he was the first introduced, he is the leader of one side. As such, he is technically the main character for the show. However, unlike say 24, I feel Lost can very quickly shift the focal point of the show away from him and create a new main in no time at all due to the shows overall structure and back stories.
In otherwords, he always came off more of a jumping off point for the writers to focus on more so than the "key" to the show. It's about the characters and the island, not about Jack. At least, imo. Of course, there are shitloads of theories that can wrap around it otherwise. |
I almost quit reading the linked theory when the second paragraph contained this gem:

I do think there's a good chance that, in the end, it'll turn out that there are multiple parallel dimensions and something about the island lets people move through them. I'm also guessing we'll find out that when people die, they just move on to another dimension. The biggest experiment of the Dharma initiative could've been trying to open portals to other dimensions to bring the dead back to our world. I'm guessing this is pretty similar to the 'Dark Tower' theory a couple people have mentioned. |
I don't see how *any* parallel dimension or time-travel theory really explains all of the visions.
Whatever mechanism appears to bring back the dead also has to account for being able to materialize *FICTIONAL* people as well. (Hurley's imaginary friend.) |
Yeah that time travel/disease thing makes no sense. I was thinking a similar island/parallel lives thing.

Matter's being created by the mind in some way or another. I don't see how windows & portals make it all possible. |
some good stuff on that website. It might explain why Jack wants to get back to the island, so he doesn't die..

It's implied that Lieutenant Daniels is with Dahrma, so with that we can infer that they have the Island bugged. So any day now, McNulty and Bunk are gonna bust in and arrest Ben and the Others - but then Omar's gonna beat them to the punch and take his own revenge...
