Also thought it was a bit bland, but I guess they have to space out the slam bam action episodes. Better than some crap on TV, though.
I think they're going with the Cameron is in the past, so she's untouched by time paradox ripples.
Now, are they going to use the last scene to show Cameron can't be trusted completely, that she has another mission besides protecting John, that she's very curious and intrigued because this is the metal compound that is one of her basic building blocks and takes a bar to inspect it (that does go to Sarah's narration about the Jewish gollum), or that she'll need it to repair herself somehow in a later episode?
The shot at the end shows that John is not unaffected by what he experienced. He hasn't become battle hardened yet, of course. At least they are in some respect using the suicide girl to drive a wedge between Cameron and John for at least a little while. Perhaps they'll take it further.
As for Cameron being young and hot that does create sexual tension (a ratings booster too) for a hormonal teenage boy. We still don't know if Summer Glau's hints about Cameron's self aware progression throughout the show will necessarily take the writers into the realm of John and Cameron falling in love or not, or at least becoming deep friends.
Future John would surely know how Past John would react to Cameron's presence, and what these new cyborgs are capable of becoming. Cameron says she's special and different in some way from previous attempts. John stated that machines would start to build other machines better than themselves. The student becomes the master, or the child overshadows the parent.
It would be interesting to see if this bond make Sarah and John actually protective of Cameron as part of a "family unit," not just let her always sacrifice herself needlessly. Perhaps save her butt a few times.
I would find it very poignant if Sarah (towards the end of the show's run) does a role reversal from T2 and sacrifices herself for Cameron as Arnold did for John. One good turn deserves another. That would be interesting: a human caring about a cyborg to that extent as Arnold learned to care for John and was willing to terminate himself for their sake.

That's why these things need plastic protective casings like from Otterbox and the like!!
And it did fall on to hardened steel plating. It had to break for it to work as a plot device.

I must have missed something but where did they get the name of the Terminator from? They kept calling something -- Cromarty?.
Just wondered about that, I thought he was just some random cyborg but in this episode they kept speaking of him like they had a history with him or something. Was this ever explained?

He called himself that when he passed himself off as the substitute teacher in the pilot. One of the female students made fun of his name: "Just Cromarty? Is that like "Madonna"?

This show is losing me fast. From the gaping plot holes to the whiny hero, there are just too many times I have said "what just happened". The FBI guy is completely lame even with the speech impediment.
I'll give it a few more weeks but it to paraphrase Cameron, "the show is going to end in alot less than 4 years".

I'll keep watching because I've been able to ignore the plot holes so far, production values remain high, Summer is HOT, and there ain't much else on.
The only thing that really pissed me off was that they didn't even mention the paintings/suicide girl mystery. I thought for sure John would feel guilty enough about her death to try to uncover the mystery.

They did mention it. It's affecting John's judgment as he feels guilty. The incident has also made John and Cameron's relationship hit the skids. And Sarah has become frosty too.
Perhaps they'll have John and Cameron go to the funeral and patch things up. We'll just have to wait and see.
I still get a lot of The Fugitive vibe out of this show as the structure is almost the same.

Did they ever explain that cyborg soldier? Was he sent from the future to just stand there and protect that place? I didn't get that at all.

The "cyborg soldier" was a terminator programed for a mission..that is to prepare stockpiles for the war after judgment day...so Skynet could start building terminators quicker...much like how the T3 terminator had a mission to go blow up the military base to get a head start on the war.
From a practical standpoint, its a way to have a terminator a week without having every terminator sent back in time to kill John Conner.

If you're a card player, you know you can't show your hand all at once.
I think the stand-in terminator was to give Cromarty time to complete his reconstruction. He'll likely be John's nemesis.
Some other interesting plot developments, too, which -- hopefully -- will pay off in future episodes.

I thought it was funny how they were trying to create false suspense with the guy in the police station getting his blood tested. "I can't find a vein!"
Yeah like the Terminator is going to come in for a police interview.

Where is that actor from? I am thinking Deadwood but I cannot place him.

So let's re-cap.
Cromartie has completed his physical transformation.
There are other terminators who are sent back to guard the factory where they will be making terminator endoskeletons.
And John Connor is a moron for getting himself into avoidable predicaments.

Thanks any idea of his name on the show or the actors name?

I enjoyed this episode despite some of it's blandness. The only thing I don't really care for is Sarah narrating every episode. Other than that, I'm pleased that they are building alot of story and it seems like next week will have a pretty big payoff with a more action oriented episode.
Brian Bloom must have a great agent. He was in Drive last season and somehow managed to get on this show as well. For such a small unintimidating guy, I am shocked he was casted as a Terminator. I was a little confused by his "stand by" mode. So was he waiting for his next command, but still managed to kill those 3 workers and fight with Cameron?
Looking forward to seeing David Silver
next week and what kind of role he will play in the series.
I'm really liking Lena Headey. She's done a pretty solid job as Sarah and IMO is the hottest TV mom right now.
