I love this show.

I just DVR it and speed through the commercials and watch it all in 20 mins. Just saw Monday's show and if that was real, holy hell. I'm still not convinced it was real but it was still great trash to watch

That's a problem I have with most of the new game shows on the air today. What happened to the good ol' days when you had 30 seconds to spit out your answer and they were going to the next question? I saw one (on ABC recently...not a show I watched to know the name of it) and they were asking a screamingly easy question and I kid you not...they were on the SAME question 12 minutes later when I flipped by the channel again to see what was going on. 12 freaking minutes on a question that would have taken under a minute on Jeopardy or Family Feud.

I think the main difference is most old-school game shows complete in one episode: so they keep things moving. The new age gameshow just drags and drags and drags, and they don't have to complete in the half hour or hour allotted. What I don't understand is, there are people that watch these gameshows that don't have DVRs.

The difference is these shows are giving out a lot more money. Watch an old episode of Family Feud, or any other game show. They win like $5k max.

So after being pimped all week as having a contestant that has a nervous breakdown, where exactly was the payoff last night? Did I miss something?

So you gotta drag things out if you give out a lot of money? At least that's what this implies.

Crap....the Price is Right Million Dollar Spectacular should be a 3 night miniseries then.

I watched, only because Criminal Minds was a rerun. With that contestant, her personality enabled her to take the air out of the questions. Any question related to her marriage/sex life, she was able to laughingly blow it off with a "Hey, I admit I was a party girl" sort of approach. And her husband didn't seem too ruffled (I had a feeling he was liking it a little bit). Any question related to her relationship with her mother, she took huge amounts of time explaining her answer to Mom, before answering the host, each time giving Mom enormous praises. There were some mother/daughter tears shed during one of those "sugary" moments. Thats where the "nervous breakdown" tease footage was taken from.
Final result: She walked away after making it to $100K.

The Price is Right only gives away a Million Dollars like what, once in 35 years? If you're putting up $1m/night, why would you give the opportunity to win that much 3 or 4 times. The ratings are nearly identical no matter how many contestants or questions you have, so might as well have 1 contestant and drag out the questions over 1 or 2 shows, and thus, give out far less money. Considering a show like this pulls in probably $2-3m/profit per episode, each person who "wins" substantially reduces the profit for the network, but some people have to win in order for interest to be maintained.

How many times have these game shows that offer the million dollars given away a million dollars? On Deal or No Deal it's been what? Like never??? (I honestly don't know...I don't watch it, but I do know that Mandel is on a "million dollar mission" and I thought that was because they never gave a million dollars away yet.)

The profitability of dragging it out certainly makes sense from a corporate point of view.

The Moment of Truth, anyone?

This was a really fun show. Two things did annoy me though. The long pauses and commercial breaks after one question. Anyone else like the show?

Same problems I had. I record it via DVR and then fast forward through all the garbage. It really speeds up the show. Since it seems everyone on it is a morally defunct piece of shite, I have no problem watching and laughing at their downfall. It is especially fun when they lose the money towards the end. So I'll record it, then watch (that way it takes about 20 minutes).

I gave up on this show as there is no true suspense.....The questions they are being asked on TV have already been asked and answered by them, now we find out if they answered them "truthfully". I do believe there have been a few mistakes made by the system and it can be flawed...For me there is no interest anymore with this show...It was an interesting concept that IMO was poorly executed.....

I didn't have the heart to start watching this again, since I felt so slimy after watching previous episodes.

I might be more inclined to watch it if it were real and they filmed them being asked questions out of the blue while hooked up to a machine.

It's obviously fake. The questions are asked hooked up to a lie detector BOFORE the show. The "contestant" knows what questions are going to be asked and whether they lied on them or not. It is so silly when they look surprised by a question.
Their reaction, the tension, and pained look by the family are all as fake as a Jerry Springer episode.

Id say each commercial break was about 4-5 minutes, at least 8 commercials. THen the repeat of the questions. There is probably 20 minutes of actual footage. Its a good show with DVR

A while back, someone edited an episode on YouTube and cut out all commercials, suspense, repeat moments and it lasted about 12 minutes, LOL!

Actually, there are a number of YouTube videos that are 13-15 minutes in length.

This show just makes me feel dirty after watching it. I know it's rigged, but the idea of someone whoring themselves out that much just disturbs me. I don't see myself watching it again. Besides, unless they can get someone to confess to murder or burning down an orphanage, the novelty factor will wear off soon.

I caught the tail end before Hell's Kitchen last night. Seems "meh". Hated to see that hot girl cry, though.

I loved the show, but I refuse to watch it live. Using my DVR changes this show from a 60 minute affair to just over 10 minutes, as others have said above.

I'll watch it again.

I tried watching the 1st episode. It was pretty painful. Definitely a DVR show, like American Gladiators. I couldn't imagine actually sitting through an entire episode. And God help the people sitting in the audience. Shoot me now!

I'm watching the episode right now on DVR, and I'll tell you this - it's actually sped up quite a bit this season!!

AM 570's David Vassegh reports that former MLB Slugger, Jose Canseco will be in the hot seat on Fox's Reality Show, "Moment of Truth" Canseco already has taped the episode and according to my source that was in attendance during the taping Canseco was asked if he ever injected Mark McGwire with steroids and if he ever corked his bat amoung other questions that were asked during the taping. The episode of "The Moment of Truth" with Canseco is supposed to air in late September or early October. -- AM 570 KLAC
