I couldn't believe how bad Britney was. Such a shame. I'm not talking about her looks. Sure, she should have covered herself more. I'm talking about the way she performed. It was as if she were a puppet on a string, being pulled by someone who was asleep.

I wouldn't doubt it if Madonna tries to help her. The lip-lock from a few years ago was symbolic for passing the torch, but Britney has had too many personal problems to even compare to Madonna.

Good analogy about the puppet though. That's exactly what it looked like.

All the Madonna liplock passed on to Brittany was herpes. Maybe now as payback Brittany can pass syphilis on to Madonna.

sad to believe that this was only 7 years ago (and when she was only like 19 at the time.
Also found this from dailymotion too from the same year

Those clips were better than the entire VMA's last night. And I hate most of those performers!

First, learn how to spell. Britney, not Brittany.

Second, the only thing life seems to have passed on to you is ignorance. However, you shouldn't go out and spread it. You should stay hidden under your rock.

I realize I have an opposing view here, but people can be extremely cruel. I guess it makes them feel better about themselves when someone else falls. I heard somewhere that celebrities are like the new mythology for us. We love to see them rise and fall.

I'm rooting for her to get things together, and not because I'm a fan. I don't own one of her CDs.
Thumbs up. The "kill all rich famous people" thing is getting old. I could care less about Britney but some of the more rabid talk I see out there is pretty chilling and indicates a serious lack of perspective.

I know you mean well but,

you could never ever compare Britney with Madonna. Madonna is the greatest female artist of the last 25 years. She wrote many of her songs and she usually always sings live, even with her incredible dance routine. Does she always sound as good live as on record? Not always, but at least she was live. Even her last couple of dance songs were way better than anything Britney put out.

Now, if we are talking 21 year old Britney vs. 21 year old Madonna in the looks department, well of course Britney wins hands down.

Close enough, unless there is another 26 year old bagged out has-been spelled "Brittany," in which case I apologize to the internet spelling gods for the potential confusion.

pretty good for a cover band (it was all new members except for Axl and i think the drummer, but it doesn't touch the original lineup (which did perfom several times on the vma's.

Brit Can't Drink and Dance at Same Time

Posted Sep 11th 2007 8:38AM by TMZ Staff

Filed under: Britney Spears, Let's Get This Party Started

Britney Spears was allegedly sippin' margaritas rather than working to get her moves down while rehearsing her zombie "performance" this weekend, and her dancers were literally praying for salvation before their performance -- because they knew it was going to be a disaster.

Page Six -- and others -- report that Britney showed up to her Saturday rehearsal hours late, and she did it "with a frozen margarita in her hand." And when she actually did manage to practice, it was clear that she would bring the whole number down with her. "The dance number was spectacular -- without her," says a spy. "Britney ... refused to do anything. The more complicated dance moves had to be erased because she couldn't do them."

As for her widely-ridiculed wardrobe choice, the Post says that MTV had picked out a corset outfit, but Spears nixed it as "not sexy enough."

got this from the music thread
Almost immediately after Britney's disastrous performance at last nights MTV Music Awards, her handlers went into spin mode. And, shockingly, it turns out Britney wasn't to blame for Britney's lame and robotic performance. X17 Online says:

Quote:
X17 has uncovered the truth behind Brit's less than energetic performance tonight.

A source tells X17 Brit found out about Sarah Silverman's crappy line about Britney's babies just moments before she took the stage to perform "Gimme More." Needless to say, Britney was PISSED! ... as any mom would be. Britney was so upset she walked through her performance just to get it over with (despite encouragement from her friends, including Sam who was apparently yelling at Sarah backstage) to skip out on it all together). She held up her end of the bargain and got a major slap in the face from Sarah.

And BreatheHeavy says pretty much the same thing:

Quote:
Britney threatened to ditch her VMA performance just minutes before she took the stage. Want to know why? Britney overheard Sarah Silverman rehearsing her monologue in which she calls Britney's babies mistakes and takes jab after jab at Britney.

Britney made it very clear with MTV that Sarah was NOT allowed to talk about her kids, and MTV agreed. That big-mouthed bitch said it anyway.

Sam Lufti was overheard backstage screaming at Sarah Silverman because of her outrageous remarks saying: "Sarah Silverman is a seriously unprofessional person to make fun of infants to get a laugh. Making fun of kids is not condonable," and that "she should have picked on someone her own size."

Perhaps this why Britney looked upset during her performance.

While it is Silverman's job to get a laugh, it should not be at the expense of little babies. Your career must be hurting if you have to turn to bashing infants in order to gain a laugh. You'll get what's yours.

Yeah this sounds about right. Britney cares about her kids. That's why she's in Vegas on a Sunday night dressed like a whore. You know what, fuck little kids. They suck. Who gives a shit if you make fun of them, especially infants. Their skull hasn't even hardened yet, you think they care if Sarah Silverman calls them a mistake. They don't even do anything, why do we assume they're so great. Maybe they hate black people, we don't know.
