American Gladiators is coming back

Dude, I'm sure I could get some points with openings that big on Powerball....I'd just start taking jumpshots.
The one thing I'm not liking about this Gladiators so far, the action is too edited. No need to make it xtreme!!! or Michael Bay-ian, just show me the action from one of two angles and that's it.

So far it's almost unwatchable due to the stupid commentary. Back when, Mike Adamle and his co-host used to actually call the action as it happened. This new commentary is obviously added in post production and fucking scripted. You can tell with idiotic shit like, "Ooh that's gonna leave a mark!" (to a serious knee injury BTW) and "...the meat in a gladiator sandwich!" SUCKS.
And Powerball is much easier than it used to be. I felt kind of bad for the woman who blew out her knee 15 seconds into the very first event.

some parts of the game left me feeling like its predetermined or fixed. The first match having someone getting injured and the womans last second comeback in the final match seems like this is scripted.

A co-worker of mine told me that his friend attended a taping of this and it's 1000% scripted. He said they did several re-takes on certain events.

I was just coming to say this was so laughably bad (started watcing after The Amazing Race ended at 9:40...), and the scripted comment makes so much sense . It defeats the whole purpose of the show and if it was scripted or not, I wasn't coming back for a second viewing with how this has turned out. That Wolf guy howling every time his name is called had me laughing hard, but not in a way that's good for the show!

Oh nos. I'm only through the first powerball and it does look scripted. The original didn't need to be changed, just and update of the sets and maybe some new games and new gladiators. I would have thought it was too simple to ruin. At least they don't have Hogan or Ali doing the commentary. I'm really not digging Hogan's "Rico Suave" bandanna wig.

That's weird. Then I guess it isn't technically subject to the laws against game show fixing.
I think that's Van Earl Wright on the PxP call - it would be more entertaining to hear him call it live.
Leave it to NBC to fuck up a tried and true formula.

scripted or not that first woman looked seriously hurt.
did anyone see the guy who said he missed a chance to be on in '94?
he cheated to get past the gladiators and you could hear people laughing when he didnt break through the wall.

The only parts I thought seemed extremely scripted were the little interviews after each event, most of them were laughably bad. I'll continue to watch this show just because I was laughing my ass off the entire time.

It was shortly after I last saw him that it occured to me that this version of American Gladiators is Dodgeball. Semi-serious athletic competitions taken to the extreme levels of seriousness (and laughability). I guess Laila and Hulk are Cotton and Pepper.
