Seems a bit odd to make this complaint with CBS. They have the lowest number of hours dedicated to non-scripted programs during their regular season and the ones they do have are crown jewels of the genre.

Good god CBS. Where even if you get double digit viewers, you might still get canned.

Yep. If it comes down to Survivor, TAR, and Jericho, I'm sorry but it is no sweat to say bye bye Jericho.

Personally I dropped it during the hiatus. I don't watch much TV to begin w/ (which means I don't have a Tivo/DVR) so having to try and track/remember when the show was coming back on was frankly a hassle. Granted the fact the first 1/2 of the season was more like like 7th Heaven than a post-nuke world type of show made me lose a lot of interest too.

Put me down as another who's glad The Unit is coming back though

CBS, THE CW CONFIRM RENEWALS, CANCELLATIONS; FOX EXTENDS '24'
By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Both CBS and the CW confirmed the bulk of their renewals and cancellations today as upfront week kicked into high gear.

Various sources have indicated the Eye has given firm go-aheads to 12 series - "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: Miami," "CSI: NY," "Ghost Whisperer," "How I Met Your Mother," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Rules of Engagement," "Shark," "The Unit," "Criminal Minds," "NUMB3RS" and "NCIS." - while "48 Hours Mystery," "60 Minutes," "The Amazing Race," "Cold Case," "Two and a Half Men" and "Without a Trace" are also expected to return.

Not making the cut: freshman drama "Jericho" as well as longshots "Close to Home" and "The Class."

Over on the CW, renewals have been issued to its signature reality series "America's Next Top Model," Monday comedies "Girlfriends" and "The Game," as well as dramas "Smallville," "Supernatural" and "One Tree Hill."

Also on track to return: "WWE Smackdown," "Beauty and the Geek" and potentially "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" should a second season format be worked out.

On the flip side, veteran comedy "All of Us" won't be returning for a fifth season while "Veronica Mars" is drifting towards cancellation as well.

As for its 2007-2008 freshman class, the netlet has confirmed three dramas - Josh Schwartz's "Gossip Girl," the Kevin Smith-helmed "Reaper" and U.K. import "Wild at Heart" - as well as one comedy - "Aliens in America," now a co-production of Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Network Television - have been given series orders.

In addition, the CW is expected to move forward with its alternative half-hours "CW Now," an "Entertainment Tonight"-esque look at pop culture, and "Online Nation" (previously known as "Viewsers"), an "America's Funniest Home Videos"-esque series for the YouTube generation.

Meanwhile over on FOX, the network has locked in "24" for two more seasons. The veteran drama had been widely expected to return despite a downtrend in its ratings and critical praise.

Series star Kiefer Sutherland is also set to return for both go-arounds as part of his multi-year production deal with producer 20th Century Fox Television.

Wow, I guess I'll be having a lot of free time on my hands next fall. Other than CSI and CSI:M, I'm done with CBS. Sigh....I think serial drama TV is in for some serious problems.

You think I would learn by now, but instead I keep watching these shows that never have a resolution. Thanks CBS.

I think I am going to start tracking the number of shows I watch on a network each week because I swear every year it gets less and less. I remember when I needed 2 dual tuner Tivo's to record everything since I regularly had three shows on at the same time. Now I am often only using one of my tuners.

Not shocked, but still pissed about The Class getting the axe. Next to HIMYM, it was the only CBS sitcom in a looooooong time that was even worth a damn.

Pap like King Of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond get's to run for around 9(+) seasons, but you can't even give a decent show like The Class a chance to run for at least one more before you decide to cancel it? I just don't get it.

My only hope is that maybe some other network would be willing to pick it up, and, that at least what did air still get's a DVD release.

I don't think the Class was that good, really. I really like Heather Goldenhersh so I do feel bad about not seeing that character. Everyone else? Not so much...

Nice to see "Shark" renewed. James Woods is a terrific actor. Also lots of hot babes on that show Jeri Ryan, Sarah Carter, and that latino/black girl(?)

Same with me.

Is there any chance that the writers will tell us what their overall idea was for how it was going to end, like John Doe? EW has also done that with a couple of series as well, like Cupid.

And we never did find out what happened to Holly on The Class? Last we heard her husband was talking to her over the phone, so I guess that they will never have to address the isue.

As much crap as Holly got here .... The scene with her being hit by a stop sign in a hurricane is my favorite class moment. I can't say I will miss the show.

CBS better watch it, no one is going to sample their new shows, who wants to start watching a new show where there is a 98% chance it will get canned?

NBC here we come! FNL had about 3 mill less viewers then Jericho and gets renewed.

All I know is I will be sampling every show on NBC knowing it has more than a 50% chance of getting renewed if it has decent ratings.

I did not watch The Class, but I have to believe its ratings were better than 30 Rock.

I Tivo'd Shark for the summer, so I will watch that, and I like Mother.. but I'm putting the original CSI on my retired list after this season and other than Letterman and Mother, thats it for CBS.

CBS you better watch out, your gravy train will be ending soon and you will have no new shows to keep the good times going.

Jericho was decent, got better, was tracking in the right direction, oh well I thought it had a very good chance at being renewed....

No more Jericho? Bye-bye to the only CBS show I watched regularly.

One difference. One of these shows was really really good and the other wasn't.

Sigh. I have the last four episodes of Jericho on my DVR. I'm going to have to give some serious consideration to whether I'll bother watching them or not.

I think the real problem for Jerico is that it skewed kind of old.

Definitely pleased that SHARK will be returning, and only slightly disappointed that Jericho is gone.

Watch them! It went out pretty good - sure the ending kind of sucks, but the last few were really strong eps and if you watched this far, you might as well see them. I'm not super pissed, but Jericho did decent for it's timeslot... so what the hell CBS? If a show isn't always winning it's slot you give it the boot? Can't they bring it back and just rename it to "CSI: Jericho". And The Class getting ditched is a shame, it started slow but got really damn good...and other than HIMYM it's the only CBS comedy I could tolerate...the rest are shit.

Your calling the King of Queens Crap and you think The Class was a good show? WOW!
The Class was awful along with How I met your mother, 2 unfunny comedies.
I wish the KOQ's could have a 10th season & it could be Christine, 2 Half men, king of Queens & rules of engagement.

I'm not surprised as it has been talked about for months now but cancelling (don't like the show) Close to home is stupid considering it does better than Ghost Whisperer and its getting renewed.
I can't wait for the DVD release of Jericho & it was one of the few LOST craze ripoff shows that actually lasted a whole season.
