Cancer is a devious motherfucker, and Ben has spent his entire life on the island, so it was just a matter of time before he wasn't immune.

RichC2 04-11-07 10:55 PM

Ben always lived on the island, as per his comments, most others haven't been native.

His immune systems, body, whatever you want to specify is used to it. Kind of like your body getting used to mediciations/antibios after prolonged use.

Jack'll be really pissed when he finds out he has been betryaed.

Hey, I'm not pissed. I still enjoy her character and am enjoying the ride. I believe I said I still didn't trust her after the first Juliet flashback episode.

madcougar 04-11-07 11:25 PM

This may be the best episode of the year for me. Can't wait for the last six episodes.

Heat 04-11-07 11:34 PM

What happened in the first forty minutes? I know that Juliet is a mole and the others had an implant in Claire that Juliet could "cure" to make Juliet look like a hero and be accepted.

So all of the mothers have died so far on the island? Except for the crazy French woman, of course. And what was the deal with the girl in the video, the one with a child. They showed the newspaper (September 10, 2004 if I remember right) in the clip.

The part where I started watching was when Ben and Juliet were in Ben's office talking about Ben's cancer.

Claire was their miracle baby, Rosseau wasn't mentioned (and perhaps Ben hasn't told anyone). The newspaper said September 22nd, 2004 and showed Juliette's sister playing with her 2 or 3 year old son. The episode progresses as Juliette comes to the island and performs her tests, Ben informs her that her sister is dying again and that if she stays, she will be cured. Juliette remains conflicted about it and yells at Ben at which time shes brought to the shed and shown video footage of her sis and nephew. There's lots of little nuggets of information throughout.

Thanks for the update!

So, Ben had someone hide the medicine near the caves that Juliet could retrieve. When did this happen? Someone just booked over there right when the gas was being released. Where did they go then? All the others were leaving (probably through underground tunnels) and, as Ben said, would be back in a week's time. Is Locke with them or is he with his father? If Ben has been on the island his entire life (about forty years) then he was there before Dharma set up. Still don't know what they were building with Kate and Ford. Maybe the couple in the cave are Ben's parents.

Thought it was a pretty good episode. Always love Mitchell.

Have they said Ben's tumor was cancerous?

redrum 04-12-07 12:47 AM

hmmm so jack knows she took kate into the woods with her but i wonder what reason juliette told him she is coming to the camp for.

Mercury&Solace 04-12-07 01:08 AM

Good episode.
I second the  naked Juliet.
What is up with Jacks new tattoo? Can't get a clear look at it on the show. Anybody got any good caps?

kinetic 04-12-07 01:15 AM

i think juliet knew about sawyer and sayids past because the smoke monster scans peoples thoughts? lolll i dont see any other explanation

BDB 04-12-07 01:38 AM

It was a great episode right up to the point where we saw Juliette talking to Ben, that's when it went from answering questions and looking like we were making headway to being back to the same old cluster fuck!

Shortly after Ben's tumor was discovered, a spinal surgeon crash lands on the island. Depending on whether you believe the island brought down the plane, you could argue that the island did in fact cure Ben's cancer.

sinister 04-12-07 01:54 AM

so we now know that the "others" are a medical experiment team and are not Dharma. So what was the dharma initiative? that's more important than the others storyline. mikhail said something about a war between the hostiles and dharma. i'm thinking the "others" are the hostiles taking over the dharma hatches and bunkers. I think the smoke monster is part of dharma and not the "others". juliette even said they know of the monster but not much else.

riley_dude 04-12-07 02:57 AM

Loved the episode up until the end. The spy in the camp has been done. Hopefully Juliet will turn out to be playing Ben so she will be on next season. I really like the actress that plays her.
Love the scene between her, Sayer and Sayid.

hardercore 04-12-07 03:12 AM

One of the best episodes of the season, certainly in the Top 5 with A Tale Of Two Cities, Flashes Before Your Eyes, Par Avion, and The Man From Tallahassee. Elizabeth Mitchell was amazing in this episode. I love how strong a character Juliet is ... case in point the scene mentioned above where she shuts down the righteousness of Sayid and Sawyer.

It's Jack, so he'll probably just force her to give him a tattoo if he gets really pissed.

Given the fact that they know all of the surivors secrets, there has got to be some kind of psychological aspect to the island (or experiment) as well.

HE Pennypacker 04-12-07 06:49 AM

I thought it was a pretty good eppy. The slow-motion scenes with the emotional piano scores are getting VERY irritating though. It's fine a couple of times per season, but they seem to be way overdoing it this season.

Snowmaker 04-12-07 07:51 AM

So I guess Locke's dad was swept under the same rug as Charles Logan.

starseed1981 04-12-07 08:16 AM

Good episode. I wonder if the whole invasion thing is gonna be the final arc of the season?

And I was thinking...did they ever do any type of follow up on Desmonds girlfriends employees who found the island at the end of season 2?
