Ugh, that episode is in contention for the worst one in the history of the series. I felt like slapping Kate every time she didn't ask Juliet a pertinent question regarding the island—instead resorting to stupid questions that one would think wouldn't take priority over more serious and relevant questions. But I guess this is standard moronic behavior in the world of Lost.

What really irritated me was the ENTIRE Hurley/Sawyer plot—which was unnecessary and incredibly stupid. Even if it were a segment in a full comedic episode it would have sucked, but when it was mixed in with the seriousness of the other stuff it completely ruined the pacing of the show.

Last week's filler episode was many times better than yesterday's drivel. Get it together Lost.

We'll see you here next week though, right? I'm sure we can count on your appearance here on the LOST thread next week.

I thought Hurley as Jiminy Cricket to Sawyer was pretty entertaining, although I do agree that a professional con man would know how to get people to like him.

Little disappointed that in all the scenes of Kate & Juliet and Kate & Cassidy, there was no kissing. I know I'm not the only one that was hoping for that.

I thought the same thing. She just got pissed at Juliet and decided to walk in silence. At least make her do some explaining before blindly letting her join their camp.

I don't have a problem with it. Where is the incentive? He is about money. There is no money on the island, with value at least, so why does he care about conning people into thinking he's nice? There's no angle for him.

At least his comments are pertaining to the show and not just his opinion of someone else's opinion on the show. Of course, I'm now making a comment on someone's opinion of someone's opinion of the show, so who am I to talk?

The long and short of it is, any show that starts as strongly as Lost and then drops off in quality is going to have a segment of disappointed, legitimate fans who stick around longer than the casual viewers, who are willing to drop the show as soon as it bores them. We'll keep watching and participating in discussions and when something bothers us, we'll point it out. If there's an episode that we really enjoy, we'll point that out too. It's great that you're still enjoying the show and I know there are plenty of people that agree with you. These discussions are for all of us, though, not just the ones who find no fault with the show. The threads are most interesting when people point out what they did or did not like about an episode, as opposed to devolving into the 'this show sucks' and 'so why don't you quit watching' nonsense.

Except, there was an incentive and he did care about conning people into thinking he's nice. He didn't want to get voted into 'exile'. But instead of seeing him use the manipulative skills that we know he has, we get him making exagerrated faces at Hurley and saying goofy things that are supposed to make the audience laugh.

I have no problem with the show trying to be funny. As an example, Locke's 'I hope your box is big enough for a submarine' a couple weeks ago cracked me up and came off as something the character would actually say in that situation. It just bugs the hell out of me when it feels like they're forcing the characters into behavior that doesn't make sense, just because they want to introduce some humor/drama/whatever. It's something the show has done sporadically for going on two seasons now and it comes off as really sloppy writing to me.

It seems to me that they are turning Sawyer in a type of utility player. His character is being used whenever they need a dose of comedy, when they need a villian, when they need a tough guy, and now when they need a leader with a soft touch. I think when you have a versatile actor like Josh Holloway you are tempted use over use his character, like they are doing now. The result is usually a watered down character that morphs from episode to episode. Like others have said, it seems like lazy writing.

Okay. I agree with those who say that everyone should move into the protected village. Isn't that a no-brainer?

As far as this episode goes, I actually enjoyed it in retrospect after reading this thread. If you really consider what has happened here with the Exodus, there are several characters with questionable alliances:

Jack - is he there because they left him (he was unconscious much longer than Julliet and Kate) or to spy in exchange for escape or to convince everyone to move to the village for more detailed monitoring?

Julliet - was she really left behind or is she part of a plan with Jack? Considering the scene with her and Ben in the Pearl last week, this could still be part of the plan to ply Jack. For what now is anyone's guess.

Locke - is he really joining the Others because he is hell-bent on staying on the island or does he want to learn everything they know about the island or is he trying to help the Lost-ies from the Others' side of the fence... or ALL of the above.

The Others - we clearly have some of them that appear to want to "flip" too.

When one considers all the new possible angles each of these characters could be following (and combinations there of), the show has radically turned everything we've come to know as true to confused again. Not a surprising set of twists when one considers how ALIAS used to flip characters' allegiances all the time!

I'll give you Desmond, but I'm not a fan of the guy who plays Ben at all.

Pretty entertaining episode. While Kate's flashback wasn't that interesting, I never mind seeing more of Kate. I'm anxious to see how Juliet will integrate into the beach camp.

The Sawyer thing was a little sketchy (learn to be nice...a con man?) but I'm willing to let it slide.

I'm really glad they decided to show soo many consecutive new episodes this year. I really think it's helped me get excited about the show again.

The island is moving. That is why no one will ever find them.

I really enjoyed this week's episode, way moreso than last week's horrible one. I like the ambiguity of the 4 characters that were left behind - who's the mole? What are everyone's intentions? I, for one, think that Juliet as the mole is just wayyyy too obvious, so I'd eliminate her and say either Jack or Sayid.

I also know that next weeks episode is a
Spoiler:
Juliet flashback, but I for one want to see an episode centering around Ben, or even Tom.
At least things should start to get real interesting the next few weeks.

Like others (ha!) have said before, my first thought was to move the damn beach camp to the "Prisoner Village." Beds, electricity. Roofs over your head.

But no, it seems that they are just going to go back to roughing it.

I liked this episode. Whenever the smoke monster is around, I like it. I still don't understand why it makes that noise and throws trees around when it's just a floating mist of silicon.

STOP BITCHING! STOP BITCHING! STOP BITCHING! STOP BITCHING!

Holy cow, was I speaking out loud there?

I really liked the episode. Yes, they could have asked a few more questions, but they can always ask a few more questions. I agree that Kate's backstory seems to be setting her up as too nice and just a bit confused and lost, instead of someone that has FBI agents staking out her Mom's house for months at a time.

And damn they looked good in those wet outfits. I wanted some more exposition while the rain just started falling, damn Kate and her stupid attack. But overall, there was some good tension with smokey, sets up well for next week, and puts Juliet (and possibly Jack) in Sayied's direct firing line. Cool with me and well worth my 42 minute lovely Kate-in-HD investment.

I think more importantly, it gives a sense of when Kate's flashback took place compared to Sawyer's life and life on the island.

If they moved from the beach to the Others' camp wouldn't that be "crossing the line" to the highest degree? If Juliet can disable the gates, wouldn't Ben and the Others be able to do the same and come get them at any time? Say what you will about the interaction between the two "tribes," but the Others have never launched a full assault on the beach, even if they have the guns and ability to do so. They seem perfectly content to hatch evil plans to steal babies and stuff, but have stayed on their side.

Maybe Kate thought there was no point in asking considering either Juliet would avoid answering or lie.
